It is big enough that they don't just jump over it when they leave the litter box and it really has made a difference. We don't litter tracked all over the house anymore. It is super easy to clean.

There are a handful of similar products out there, but since I can't hide my litter box area in a discreet location, I wanted something that worked as advertised and looked good. I also have an older cat that likes to pick a spot--any spot--to do her business, often a bath or door mat, so this was an expensive venture on the chance it would become her next target. I also have a cat that likes to scratch and claw horizontal things--like carpet. With two drawbacks against it, I bought it and put it down in front of two of the four litter pans configured so they had to walk on the new mat. I wanted to see if it truly caught the tracking. The obvious result was yes because any mat will catch something. Two things thankfully haven't happened: scratching and the business. I also think the semi-soft little nubs wipe their feet a little because the fine dust that settles on everything in my house seems to have lessened as well. Left to itself, I don't know how long it will continue to catch the large pieces. I guess until the thousands of little funnels fill up.However, I immediately discovered a duh factor on the first emptying that the mat I bought is bigger than the pans and a bit cumbersome to maneuver, so it takes a few tries to develop the skill to fold the layers without spilling the litter too soon. I still lose a little, but not like the first time. I'm reminded of one of those flexible cutting boards for the kitchen. It has to be rolled a little more than I expected and I have to be careful not to bump it on the wall or it all comes out. With all that trouble, I would still buy the largest one.I have two litter stations, so I will get a second for the other. However, the second station is in the path to my garage, so I don't know how the mat will do with regular human traffic on the nubs--such as, will they crush over time? What about tripping, sliding, or slipping while carrying things inside? All things to think about, but still a definite plus on the first purchase.

I've been using this for over two years underneath our cat's litter box. It cleared up our tracking problem. And it's easy to maintain. It hasn't started smelling. All the little holes hold a lot of litter, and the litter stays put. To clean it, I just hold it over the litter box, open it, and shake all the trapped litter back into the litter box. I do this when I'm changing the litter. Once in awhile I spray the rug with cleaner, then hose it off and let it dry. I don't know how necessary this is, though. We use unscented clumping litter.UPDATE. We had to move our cat's box into a higher traffic area, and I stopped liking this mat to the point I decided to get something else. First, I noticed it was very uncomfortable on the feet, so I'm sure it is also on kitty paws. Also, if you have it in an area that you need to keep cleaner, thus empty it more often, you'll quickly realized it's rather unwieldy. It's very large and stiff. It has holes on both sides, so the slower you are, the more may spill out, both through all the holes and on the end. It's so cumbersome, I found it impossible not to spill some litter. So, I had to sweep anyway. It does a good job of catching litter just sitting there, but it's unpleasant to walk on and spills easily. I used the first one over 3 years and it never started smelling. Since I have mixed feelings, I just took off one star.

I ordered not one, not two but three of these mats but honestly just two would’ve done the job. Can I say that these mats look so nice and are well constructed. They are light weight and HUGE. Ok maybe I’m over exaggerating but these mats are pretty darn big. Now onto the mats performance. I just got these in today (well technically yesterday midnight as I’m writing) and if you’re wondering it took 3 days to get here. My cat hasn’t used it much except once an hour ago and I went to check the results to find that the mat itself trapped all the excess litter with no problem and left my carpet clean. Now I want to add that I believe it truly depends on the type of litter, type of litter box and how your cat does it’s business. I’m cheating a bit since my litter box has a lid AND steps to reduce tracking/spraying litter everywhere whilst digging plus the mats seem to be reducing it even more which is fantastic! I also use Oko cat litter the one with the bigger pieces as it doesn’t get trapped as easily in my cats paws so it helps as well to a certain extent. Before I got these mats the tracking with the “fancy” litter box I have plus the non helpful mats equated to a bit more of a mess with litter than what I see now. I can’t truly say much yet though as after all she’s only used the litter once when I replaced the old mats with these Blackhole ones. I have trust in them and they seem to be worth the money put into them. Don’t hesitate to give it a try. Persephone seems like a happy kitty herself since the mats aren’t harsh to step on. I like how you just lift the mat and “recycle” the litter back in the litter box by opening up the mat a bit (I can’t explain this well but third review picture does) versus shaking the mat out and risking throwing litter all over the place regardless. Save the time and effort of constantly vacuuming to rid of the annoying litter and invest in these.

It’s not as big as I thought it was. However, it’s light but still sitting well on the floor. Only just started using it. We use oko plus litter so some bigger piece of the litter got outside the mat. Cats are long haired so we kind of expected that anyway. Really easy to vacuum up the litter on the mat without the mat being sucked on the vacuum cleaner hose. Good product overall.

Kind of works... litter does go through the holes. But despite buying the large mat, my cats are still managing to get litter to the other end of the house! I also find it difficult to pick it up and 'simply' bend it to tip the litter back in to the litter tray.

Don't waste your money on anything else ...BUY THIS!As a ragdoll breeder with a lot of cats to contend with these mats save so much litter being tracked. It has been a game changer in our home with lots less vacuuming needing done. I have 5 litter trays each with a blackhole mat. The beige colour is really nice & doesn't look cheap at all.I have bought cheap chinese copies in past but don't waste your time these catch more litter & help stop the tracking around the home.

Nice and large - good quality. Very sturdy and works well trapping the litter. My cat is a mess and this catches more litter than anything else I've tried so far.

The media could not be loaded.  Da unsere Katzen, immer sehr viel Katzenstreu durch die Bude schleppt, mußte noch etwas nützliches her.Wir haben als Katzenklo schon einen Toploader, wodurch wir auch weniger Katzenstreu im Haus hatten, zustäzliche hatten wir schon diverse Katzen-Pfoten-Abtretmatten vorm Klo. Doch die waren meistens viel zu klein. Meist ist unsere Katze drübergesprungen und da wurde das Streu dann wieder durch die Bude getragen anstatt auf der Matte zu bleiben.Ich hatte schon seit längerem die Blackhole Katzenstreu Matte in meiner Wunschliste, allerdings noch die kleinere mit den Maßen ca. 76x58cm. Und ich fand die Matte immer recht teuer.Allerdings zu Weihnachten, fand ich dann die XXL Blackhole Matte mit den Maßen ca. 91x63cm für einen Preis von 42,90 Euro.War zwar nicht günstig aber dachte mir als Weihnachtsgeschenk für unserer Katze passt das schon ;-)Hätte es die Matte größer gegeben, hätte ich sie mir auch noch größer bestellt. Die Maße 120x80cm wären perfekt für uns ^^Die Matte selbst finde ich gut verarbeitet, da gibt es nichts zu meckern.Seit wir diese Matte haben, liegt bei uns so gut wie kein Streu mehr im Haus herum.Durch die Knubbel auf der Matte ist die Katze gezwungen ihre Pfoten zu spreitzen und somit wird das Reststreu an den Pfoten auf der Katzenmatte gelassen.Die Matte ist gerade groß genug das die Katze nicht drüber springt, allerdings wie schon erwähnt hätte ich gern noch eine etwas größere Matte gehabt. War auch schon am überlegen ob ich noch eine zweite kaufe aber das passt schon so :-)Was nicht so gut funktioniert, ist das Zusammendrücken der Matte, so daß man das Katzenstreu was sich in der Matte angesammelt hat wieder zurück ins Katzenklo kippen kann.Allerdings wird es etwas mit der Größe der Matte zu tun haben. Bei einer kleinerer Matte würde das Problem sicherlich nicht so auftreten, da es sicherlich dann auch nicht so labberig ist.Ansonsten ist die Blackhole Matte auch abwaschbar. Mußten wir (damit meine ich meine Frau) zwangsweise testen. Da es unsere Katze geschafft hat, auf die Mattte zu kotzen.Naja, wie gesagt, die Matte ist abwaschbar zum Glück doch Katzenkotze aus den Löchern zu bekommen, war wohl nicht so der hit :-DAber es ist alles machbar.Schaut euch gern das Video und die Fotos von mir zu diesem Produkt an.Wir finden die Matte total klasse und Hilfreich.Frage ob 5 oder 4 Sterne bin ich jetzt doch bei 4 Sternen hängen geblieben.Erstmal ist die Matte recht teuer finde ich.Zweitens, funktioniert daß mit dem Zusammendrücken bei der größe nicht. Auch wenn ich Verständnis dafür habe das es an der größe der Matte sicherlich liegt, aber ist halt etwas was mich bisschen stört.Trotz des Preises und dem kleinen Störfaktor, können wir die Matte jedem empfehlen.
