In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

Comfy sneakers!
I bought these shoes to wear during my two week trip to Spain because I didn't want to use my running shoes (I like to save them strictly for running/training). They are lightweight and comfortable and I had no problems wearing them ALL DAY long. I put a lot of mileage on them during that trip and they were always comfortable. They are a little difficult to get on (with or without socks) but once on, they are great and felt true to size for me. They are meant to be worn without socks however, I found that wearing them sockless was a mistake as they didn't wick away sweat which meant my feet and the inside of those shoes smelled really bad after wearing them all day. I let them air out, sprayed them with some Febreeze and wore them with thin, "no show" socks front that point forward and all was good. If you don't have sweaty feet you can probably go sockless with no odor issues. I had initially ordered two pair, one in a 6.5 and one in a 6, because I after reading reviews I thought I better try both sizes since some people indicated they ran small but I feel they ran true to size and I'm typically a size 6 and have wide feet. I liked them so much I ordered another pair when I returned home. I don't plan to use them at the gym because I don't think they have enough support (for me) to use them for workout shoes but they are great sneakers for just kickin' around. Hope my review helps others. Enjoy!

Buy a whole size bigger and it is a sock type shoe but I love it for my needs.
This is definitely NOT a regular tennis shoe! It is more of a sock with a sole. I read the reviews and did not 'get' when people spoke of the 'tongue'. This is literally one piece like a sock but has laces and a comfortable sole.I actually really do like it. It is comfy and supportive on the bottom for zumba and group fitness classes. But if you need more side support or ankle support, this will not provide that. I can't imagine even trying to wear a sock with it bc it lacks supports. The color is a little brighter than I expected it due to 'shininess'. Not subtle!I read the reviews and bought a whole size larger than usual and I'm so glad I did. This is NOT a wide shoe and very fitted. If I had gotten ANY smaller, I would have to return them.

Light, comfortable, good looking!
These shoes are light, very comfortable and good looking.I ordered half a size up based on other reviews - fits me beautifully. The shoes are a bit snug when new but not uncomfortably so.I've worn them everyday for the past six weeks on my workouts and runs and they are holding up.If you like lifting weights, these shoes have the lower profile that trainers recommend. My only tiny little gripe with these shoes are the laces. They are less textured and tend to come undone a lot more than my other trainers.

New and improved Sana! Even better then the original version.
I loved the original Sana but his, I love even more! It's new and improved. The fit and support are much better that the original and it looks more durable. I use this for cross-training and cardio dance classes. See below for my review on the original Sana. Everything still holds true for this one...but better!!!MY REVIEW FOR THE ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS SHOE:I am in love with these shoes! They are very soft and comfortable and flexible. Perfect for cardio-dance classes, cross-training, HIIT, etc. I don't think this will work for my running routine though because it has very little arch support and it's too minimalist for my liking. I prefer to wear my other Asics shoes that were built for running during my runs. I purchased the pink/purple in a size 7, which is my true size, and will definitely order another is a different color as back-up.UPDATE 10/20/15: Wore it to the gym for the first time last night for HIIT and then a 1 hour cardio-dance class afterwards...these shoes are great!!! The comfort and flexibility are amazing! :)

You need thin feet
I’ve always loved these shoes. These are my second pair. These particular pair I’ve noticed the top near the toes are a bit tighter than usual when running so much that I was getting a bit chafed there, so I removed the shoe strings to give more flexibility when running, not much relief. I asked my neighbor who ordered a pair of the same exact shoe and she complains of the same issue same spot. It’s not a size or width issue, more of a compact issue. I have thin feet so I’m not sure. Hurts at the bend when running. Taped up and running anyway, great looking shoe, receives a lot of compliments.

Excellent shoes. Very pleased.
I purchased these shoes for my 91 year old mother who is still very active. She usually wears an 8 but you need to order a size up because of the snug fit. The Lilac is a lovely color. They are low profile. Good grip. The shoes do not flip flop on her which is so important. They bend easily. Very safe shoes for someone who is older BUT I plan on picking up a pair for myself :-) The Gel insole is very comfortable. These shoes agree with my mother's bunions. Really, they are worth the price.

Love my everyday comfort shoe
This is my second pair. Replacing the Gel Fit Sana (purple) I've had for about a year. Best, walking, all day comfort shoes. Not sure it has enough support for real running (I'm not a runner), but these are by far the most comfortable all day shoe ever. When I need more support or structure (for workouts), I go to my Ecco Biom Evo or Train. I love the slip on ability of the ASICS Gel Fit Sana, but they are a snug fit and took some getting used to. Socks are a tight squeeze at first until they are a bit stretched out. Laces are optional, and for me depends on the look I'm going for. They also help tighten when the shoe is a bit stretched out from use.

Flexible, light, stylish, and a great price!
Fantastic gym shoes. I mainly do some light cardio on the elliptical to warm up and then do about an hour and a half on weights and these shoes are perfect for my needs. Very lightweight and flexible. I ordered a half size up as suggested and the fit is perfect. Due to the nature of these mock sock style shoes, I would suggest thinner socks as these are meant to hug your feet. The lilac is a very pretty color and not too bright or flashy which is what I prefer. This is my first time trying ASICS (im usually a reebok or puma girl) and I have to say that I think I am converted :)
