Cells at Work! 4

I'm giving 4 stars mostly due to the lack of any overarching plot in this series. Other than that though, the series is a fun read, and I was especially ticked by the sight of a group of monocytes changing into macrophages to kill off a Staph. aureus infection. Having worked with macrophages, it amuses me greatly to think of these cells as smiling maids in lacy dresses, wielding giant hammers and smiting bacteria. :)

Helping me teach my child about the importance of self care. Illustrates how hard our bodies work in a way that engages children and adults.

Einer der besten Manga, die ich je las. Ich wünschte, es hätte ihn schon früher zu meiner Ausbildungszeit gegeben. Funktionen des Körpers werden wunderbar und auch lustig dargestellt. Ich liebe diesen Manga!

Very enjoyable and both my kids and I thought it was very funny, but also learned a lot about the circulatory, nervous and immune systems from reading this manga. Highly recommended!

It is not always the case that parents in Japan are in favor of kids reading comic books. This series seems to be a definite exception, as the series offers so much wisdom to kids (and adults). I get excited whenever I see the red blood girl with a box supposedly filled with O2 to deliver. She, never ostentatious, tries so hard for the body, making me feel that I need to take care of my body.

米語訳に対して星のマイナス。日本語版での方言を再現するのが難しいのは分かるんやけど、あの輸血されてきた赤血球たちの言葉遣いを巻末の説明でわざわざ「日本語では関西弁というもの」としてご丁寧に大阪を始めとした説明まで付けて紹介するのはありえへん。せめて重装備な服装などから寒冷地の地域方言の一つぐらいにしておけば良いものを・・・。ついでに「オラオラオラ」の語源説明は、それが正しいかどうかは当方は知らないのでノーコメントで。（せっかく2巻の「が～ん」の対訳と巻末説明は大納得だったのにな～）
