A Grave Matter: 3 (A Lady Darby Mystery)

Well written and captivating premise. Have purchased other books in the series and they did not disappoint.

I enjoyed the first book quite a lot; the second was a bit boring on a mystery side. This one was perfect. Definitely the best so far. The mystery was intriguing, and thought I figured who was behind the grave robbing at the middle, but so did Kiera and Gage. And luckily, there were still some surprises in the end. In addition, author’s research got so much more in-depth, that the overall atmosphere became pleasantly authentic. Other thing I admire id how realistically Anna Lee Huber portraits an artist. Most literature/films show our kind annoyingly stereotypical. The author must be a painter herself, or she is closely familiar with one.I overall I love Lady Darby as a character – she is smart, talented, capable and undeniably true to the period mentality. I love Gage as well. I admire how much respect he pays to Kiera’s abilities. Theirs is a very good relationship and I truly enjoy their romance.This book is half mystery and half romance (I love romance). Interestingly this is not a mystery book with romantic subplot, neither it romance book with murder sub-plot. Both parts are integral and indispensable to the full picture that the story present to the reader. I really do appreciate this. And I think it what makes the series so addicting; you need to know who is the killer with the same passion as what going to happen next with Kiera and Gage.Oh, and I loved that this time he was one in need of saving.

Great book to read

Dieser 3. Band ist eine erneute Steigerung und dennoch stört mich etwas daran. Die Heldin nervt, der Held nervt, manchmal scheint das ganze Geplänkel dazu da, die Seitenzahlen zu erhöhen. Die Geschichte ist eigentlich spannend, historisch interessant (wenn auch sehr fehlerhaft dargestellt, und ich meine jetzt nicht de eigentlichen historischen Ereignisse, sondern die Gepflogenheiten), und wenn man unkritisch das Ganze überfliegt, wird man sicher seinen Spass haben. Es bleibt einfach dieser schale Nachgeschmack schlechter Recherche. Ohne das, vergnügliche 4.8 Punkte.

I thoroughly enjoyed 'A Grave Matter' as I did the previous novels.It is an escapism to the senses. If you like a period 'who done it' it is easy to follow and entertaining.The language of yesteryear, customs and description of place, house/manor and clothing bring these novels alive.
