The best!
Love all of her books! BUT this one I feel is somewhat of a hidden gem! It isn’t as well known at least in my circles and is definitely my favorite!I’ve had it for years and purchase it frequently for first time parents as my card. It’s sweet, inspiring, and whimsical! You should get it!!

Beautiful Book, Symbolism May Be Challenging for Some Kiddos To Get
Like each of the other Tillman books I have purchased recently, this one is beautifully written and expressed, and I'm basing my rating on that. As others have noted, she uses the metaphor of a crown worn by a child to indicate that their individuality, those things that make them uniquely them, give them great value and meaning and will allow them to symbolically rule the circumstances in their lives if they embrace that in themselves, so to speak. I do think it is beautifully written.I also think that it is explained well enough what she's meaning for a typically developing child with a healthy sense of imagination and symbolism. My very literal, very "the world is what it is and I don't pretend" son, who has Autism, among other things, would probably say (if he words were something he used right now): "What crown are you talking about? I don't have a crown. Made of moonlight? Moonlight isn't solid, it can't make a crown...." And so on. So I think it is possible that a group of kiddos, meaning special needs kiddos who have some of the brightest crowns and sweetest spirits around, may need this message reinforced more than some others and may need a great deal of assistance in parsing out the meaning of this book and how it applies to them. Otherwise, like all of her books, I found it a joy to read and love how positive and affirming this book is.

An unexpected treasure find
I stumbled upon this book when doing a google search for where exactly the crown of our head is! (I thought it was more towards the front of the head) Regardless, what a treasure! Every child should hear this book! Beautiful poetry;, inspiring and uplifting. Lovely artistic illustrations make it a must-have for your child’s “first books” collection

Wonderful book for Cranio kids
My son was born with craniosynostosis, a condition in which the sutures between the plates in his skull fused prematurely. When he was just 11 months old he had major surgery to reconstruct his skull into a different shape. Today he is a happy, healthy, and handsome toddler -- with the only evidence of his surgery being a zig-zag scar that spans across the top of his head from ear to ear. He has, quite literally, a "crown" -- and there's no denying that it makes him different. Someday he will realize that he is different, but I want him to grow up understanding that everyone is different in some way, and that these differences are what make people unique, special, and strong. I want him to be proud of his scar and wear it with pride, and believe the words "I always knew just what your crown meant. It said that you were MAGNIFICENT."

Fantastic book!
This book will bring any momma to tears! SO sweet and the images in the book are beautiful. Not as traditional of a book as the images are not jam packed with bright bold colors and there is no frill to this book. BUT the words are so sweet and the images are simple and beautiful. it's so sweetand fun to read from birth to age 4! Makes a fantastic shower book, is perfect for grandma and grandpas house or babies nursery! We read this book nightly. You will not be disappointed with this book and I would recommend you check out the other books my Nancy too!

Not bad but not as good as her other books
If you believe in auras, you'll love this. If you find them a little whimsical and hard to believe, you may find this book hard to swallow. It's very complimentary of a little person, but in terms of their 'golden crown' which to me is a bit of a stretch. The illustrations are on a par with other books of hers but the story has less blanket appeal.

Another lovely book
Bought for our little boy (and great, calming bedtime book it is too) and he loves it so much he bought it for our friends' baby. As gorgeous as you would expect from Tillman, this is yet another beautifully written and illustrated book that is both meaningful and uplifting.

I love it so much I got it tattooed on me!
I love this book so much and read it to my daughter all the time. I am a huge Nancy Tillman fan and have all of her books but this is my favourite. I even recently got a crown on your head tattoo in tribute to my daughter. Now that's love! Buy it, you won't be disappointed.
