Well, I ran out of these awhile ago, and went back to scrubbing out my water bottles and insulated containers with a scrubbing brush, regular dishwashing detergent, and a lot of elbow grease. While this got the bottles visibly clean, either the smell and taste (yuck) of old coffee, soup, etc. would remain, and now it also tasted or smelled like detergent. Soaking in vinegar and baking soda (although baking soda is an ingredient of the tablets) also did nothing but waste time. So I'm going to order some more. They lasted as long as they did, because I ordered them after I had been forced to retire due to illness (not Covid-related), and then found my old thermos containers and water bottles way back in a cabinet and decided to use them as a convenient way to have cold or hot drinks at the ready. While they had been "cleaned" before being put away, the insides still smelled musty. The absolute worst ones were the ones I used for coffee, and the soup jars! I was AMAZED how fast and how well these worked! And yeah, I've heard of using denture tablets to clean coffee pots and insulated bottles. I had tried this method with some of my mother's unused cleaning tablets. Denture tablets, even the name brands, are a lot cheaper than these and I found they worked best to remove scale from coffee pots, and were kind of okay on steel. The downside is that it tends to leave that "minty fresh" flavor in your bottle which is hard to rinse out completely. So...I'll stick to Bottle Bright, especially now that I've started to use my bottles again. I'm just glad they're still being sold.
