Thermal-Aid Zoo: JoJo the Monkey

Cute little monkey, very nice to warm up and cuddle with. Don't laugh, but I bought this for our long haired cat who had to be shaved for a matting issue in late winter. She happens to like stuffed animals, so I thought this might be nice for her if we were going to be away from the house and she wanted some warmth.Unfortunately, cats are not logical, so the effort was wasted on her. I'm enjoying this myself now.

I bought this for my 4 1/2 yr old son with the intent to use it for stomach aches. We currently use a microwaveable hot pad but this just looked more fun. We got it today and my son loved playing with it, but obviously it was not bought as an everyday play toy. We decided to heat it up, and that's where the issue lies. I had read 2 reviews prior to purchasing regarding the smell. One said it was bad and the other said only noticeable if held up to your nose. Well the first thing my son said was "ewwww it smells so bad". He is particularly sensitive to smell and texture but really just with food. He would not cuddle with it even just on his belly (I quite like the smell).The belly is the only area with the corn but it still gives off a good amount of warm.My other concern is that to use it as a cooling aid, it has to be placed in the freezer for at least 5 hrs. If my son gets bitten, has a headache or fever, I would really want something more immediate like a cold washcloth or a cooling gel pack. I would then need to remember to put it in the freezer to be used at somepoint later, but I can envision a child wanting it immediately. The last concern would be the germ factor..I am by no means a germaphobe but as you can only spot wash it, I'm a little on the fence as to how germs may fester.On the plus, it is cute, soft, and well made. A child that is not so sensitive to smell would prob love it. I have not used it for its purpose yet, so I have given 3 stars instead of 2 incase I am proved wrong. I do think they may need to find an alternative to the corn filling though that does not emit a smell.

As of right now it’s just a toy but come winter we will be using the microwave to help keep my son warm as he cuddles his “mookey” to sleep.

My daughter is attached to this monkey. Keep in mind that it is stuffed with corn so cannot be washed/dried or heated too long. It’s weighted and perfect size. Never actually used it as ice/heat pack. My daughter just can’t do anything without “baby monkey” so we have had to modify him a bit to replace the corn inside so I could wash him.
