ac Delco to the OBS rescue!
recently purchased a 1999 Chevy suburban k1500 a few days ago and bought it because the owner didn't want to deal with it. overheating. I knew it wasn't a head gasket so decided to order this water pump and a Fail-Safe thermostat. only took about 45 minutes to 1 hour to change. it's relatively easy. just take the fan off with a adjustable wrench. 10 mm on the water pump pulley and a few 14 mm bolts which is four of them. no more overheating truck runs great now!

Original OEM Water Pump for 1998 Chevrolet C1500 4.3L
This water pump was a third of the price as the retail automotive stores were selling it for. I installed it on a 1998 Chevrolet C1500 with a 4.3l engine and it fit perfect. Despite other reviews, the product i received was a verified OEM AC Delco water pump. You can tell by the AC Delco box it came in and the stamping on the water pump. It came with the required gaskets needed for the installation. The gaskets supplied do not require any RTV sealant. The installation was fairly easy for any person with just a little mechanical aptitude. The only issue i had with the installation was getting the fan loose. I removed the radiator shroud for extra space and i went the extra step of removing the alternator for easier access to hose's. I was able to remove the fan by weaving a metal hangar through two holes in the pulley and wrapping it around the alternator bracket. I then used a crescent wrench and hit it with a rubber mallet. I tried the ratchet strap method and it just slipped around the pulleys. The hangar through the pulley holes was extremely simple and did not risk damaging other components of the pulley system. All in all it was fairly easy ans saved me a fortune. I was quoted $375 to have it repaired by a local mechanic.

not painted so it rusts quickly
I would say the biggest negative for this water pump is... it is not painted so it rusted quickly. I would suggest a prepainted one to get some 500 deg engine paint. Unless you just don't care or making a quick sell.Me I cant stand a new Item rusting like that. It took quite a bit to clean, rust kill and paint. It won't be as good as a powder cote, or prepainted, or If I would have cleaned and painted it in the first place. But better now... 😀
