do i need something special to drive this?

Not sure what you are trying to do, but I used an Arduino Uno.

It can be if programmed to act as a servo.

Could i plug this into my receiver and use it as a servo? (Pwm)

No this is 3-phases brushless motor and has no electronic components to take receiver PWM signals. You will need a controller and motor driver in between your receiver and the brushless motor. Hope that helps.
