one of the best non-lego sets I have found
My son is very enthusiastic about lego and also obsessed with the military. Lego does not make any official military vehicle sets, so we have tried a good number of third party custom sets. This is definitely one of the best builds, which is especially impressive given the price. The biggest issue with custom sets from third parties is that the build design is usually not very stable. They are ok if you want to build something for display purposes, but my son is 8 years old and he wants to play with things after he builds them. It's frustrating to have lego creations that constantly fall apart even under gentle pressure. Other issues I have encountered with custom sets are missing pieces and instructions that are nearly incomprehensible. This Blackbird set from SEKMY was a very pleasant surprise. I didn't expect much, given the low price and my previous experience. But this model holds together under normal play about as well as many official lego brand sets. The landing gear strut attachments are the weakest part (although they look cool), but pretty easy to reinforce without changing the appearance of the plane. All the necessary parts were in the box, including a lot of custom parts that I haven't seen in any other sets. The instructions, while not as easy to follow as lego, were not too hard to decipher. My son needed a little help figuring out some steps, but this is doable by a child if there is an adult willing to give some assistance. The finished product is very good. It's bigger than I expected, and my son is thrilled with it. It does not have an operable cockpit to put a minifigure inside, but they can stand on the wings.

Better than Lego!
Absolutely Awesome!! I was skeptical & hesitant to buy a non- LEGO brand because my 16 yr old builds these strictly for display so he doesn’t want a childish or poorly made result but when he finished this one I was shocked! This is the nicest of his plane collection!! It has such a sleek, clean look & the stance is just awesome! The pieces fit together better I think than the other brands do so if you’re looking for a display quality set, you won’t be disappointed! We will definitely be purchasing more soon!

Not quite Lego quality, but Lego doesn't make an SR-71
The instructions are not as easy to follow as Legos and the pieces don't snap together with the precision of Legos. However, the SR-71 is very cool when finally assembled.

Gift for teen or adult
I have a child who loves building blocks... often name brands, but off brands are ok too. We looked for military in name brand and couldn't find much of a selection... so we ventured off the beaten path and found this brand. We have LOVED these sets. They are fun to build, interchangable sizes with name brands, and look like real military vehicles/aircraft. Amazing quality, brand, toy, product. I highly recommend this!

Great model!
Very cool model! One part was kinda loose and got lost, but it's a toy. It did it's job and gave the kid many hours of fun.

Garbage, Horrible instructions, missing parts
Having put together hundreds of Legos over the years, but knowing that the Legos brand does not have an SR-71 model I decided to give this a try. Garbage. Instructions were terrible, by the 5th missing part and the pieces not snapping securely together I gave up. Mine looks like a frankenstien plane. Don't waste your money. Why are there 15-20 pieces that are extra in the pack???DON'T waste your time.
