Wonderful Product will Purchase Again
I’m truly impressed by the design and functionality of the product. After purchasing two other gates for my 10 month old son; only to discover that it was impossible to install because a wooden banister and the wall was at an angle close to a stair rail. As a result of all of these difficulties I went on a hunt which lead me to this product. The additional wooden post which is straped onto the banister allowed me to avoid having to drill the screws directly into the banister. I read comment of the wooden post slipping so after installation, therefore, I created grooves where the plastic pulleys are located then used my pliers to titen as much as possible. No issues with the wooden post slipping out of place.Installment of the gate took longer then expected but is easy enough with some patience and endurance. So far after two months of my son pulling and attempting to destroy the gate it has held up with no issues. There is another section in our house where we have the same issue and I’ll be purchasing this product again.

Wast of money
Very cheaply made, not worth your money. Go to an home improvement store and but wood and make your own.

Don't buy if you're going to use on drywall ...
Purchased this to mount a (KidCo) gate to drywall ...On the one hand, you end up with all the parts you need in one package. On the other hand, there are some very serious drawbacks:1) If your baseboard isn't the precise thickness of the small chunk of wood they include, you're going to need something else to brace the top with (I ended up using extra shims from the KidCo banister installation kit).2) The toggle bolt -- i.e., the hardware you need to attach this to drywall -- is crap. Easily strips, and will not tighten enough to prevent the whole mess from wiggling from side to side. A toggle bolt creates a larger hole than the bolt (on purpose), in order for the wings to pass through. But for an installation like this where there will be stress from side to side (not just in one direction, as when you're just hanging something), you need hardware that plugs the hole to prevent lateral movement. The good news is that there are dozens of products that will do this, but they're at the hardware store, not in this box.

Does exactly what it says it will do, and does it well
This was an excellent and necessary purchase, as I have three stairwells, all with banisters on one side. This was the only clear solution I cold find, and it worked beautifully. It's very simple to use. It honestly takes about 30 seconds to put one of these up with zip ties. No tools required, and no real handyman knowledge needed. As for the complaint by some that you're overpaying for a piece of wood and some zip ties, well, one of these kits costs about $13, and it comes with hardware. To do it yourself, you get to drive to your local home improvement store, however far away it may be, go in, pick out the wood, have someone cut it down to size, find and buy the zip ties, find and buy the hardware that also comes with it, if you're mounting it to the bannister with hardware, drive back home, and then get started. Note, you do still have to buy those things, and you are your own delivery service. It also takes time. Time is of some value. With this kit, you are paying all of $13 to have it all delivered to your door with no hassle. If you're going to the home improvement store anyway, and you don't mind doing the extra work/time for it, that's fine. That's certainly an individual prerogative. For me, I'd rather click a button and have it at my door, ready to go. Worth the money for me, but it's a personal choice. It is simple, and no frills, as people say, but it does the trick, and it does it well.

Great baby gate for an angled application!!
The baby gate is really nice, it's sturdy, looks good (once it's finally assembled), and does the job for an angled opening!!! I'm glad I bought this gate but I had to get help from my brother to assemble it because the instructions were difficult for me to follow. I called Kidco & they sent me an email with more detailed instructions and a short video. The representative mentioned that other customers also had the same concern regarding the instructions.

Helped attach gate to metal railing
We bought this to attach our gate to our metal railing. It worked perfectly!! We also painted it black so that it blended in better. It’s was just what we needed.

2 purchased, both broke!
Broke with regular use. I ordered another, and it also broke.Cannot recommend. This was with normal use, and did not last more than a few months.
