The old cap cracked. This new one fits exactly, even to the way the retainer strap connects to the car. Also much cheaper than the dealer and several days faster than the local auto store could get one.

When I bought my used car the gas cap "tie" was almost, but not quite broken. I admit, I didn't check that part when I bought it, discovered it when I filled up for the first time, and the second or third time it broke. The gas cap worked, but you had to find someplace to put it down because it couldn't just hang there. This is not terribly convenient in the winter because you don't want to get snow/slush aka water in your tank because it got on your gas cap. I have shopped parts stores, auto graveyards and online trying to find one that was less than $25. I finally did! Yay! It works, no nasty gas tank light came on (that's what happened with the last one I tried). It wasn't terribly hard to get the little "button" into the hole so it hangs properly. I am doing a happy dance at the gas station, well, a mild jig with the price of gas, but I'm still happy to have a gas cap that hangs like it should!
