Great introductory gyuto profile
Cheap steel so just sharpen from 800/1000, I use a Mac 1200 grit ceramic rod and gets it working sharp everytime, I bought two and let people use it after i put an edge on it at work (mostly the reason why I bought it) one had really good edge retention after 50# eye of round and 20# carrots bias, the other was used to julienne 50# onions and didn’t even need honing for the other random tasks, didn’t expect much and got a hell of a lot out of them, will update in 6 months

Better quality than price
I was honestly not expecting much out of a 30 dollar knife. The handle is a bit bigger than expected, so it took some getting used to. This knife lives with me at work now

Best Chef Knife Under $50, or More?
Short review: this knife performs better than $100+ knives own. I work in a professional kitchen every day, and this has become my go-to knife when I am processing meat or produce. No fake damascus laser etching, no useless mosaic pins, just a well balanced, quality steel knife that had a lot of thought put into design.Long review: first thing I noticed was that the handle was larger than it appeared in the pictures. Luckily, I have rather large sausage fingers, so this handle fits into my hand quite nicely. Maybe half an inch too long if I'm being picky. I also love that there are not two but THREE huge pins holding the handle scales on to a true full tang. I can't speak to the quality of the plastic as of yet, but it seems strong and over-built, if anything, and I'm sure if I keep it out of the dish washer at work that the handle will hold up forever. I also didn't think I really liked a flat, square handle shape, but I just love the feel of that knife not going anywhere when it is in my hand, except exactly where I want it to. The boxy shape makes for great indexing. AND the handle colors are just awesome! I've bought the green, blue, and yellow so far, and I'm probably going to order the red one once I'm done writing this.Moving on to the steel, it comes sharp out of the box, but like others have said, it helps if you own a set of sharpening stones and know how to use them. I did a quick pass over my stones and this thing was scary sharp. I haven't sharpened it in over a month yet!I love that it has an integral bolster. I find the radius of the bolster to be very small for my large fingers, but I still have no problem using a comfortable pinch grip ALL DAY LONG.I absolutely love the gyotu shape of the blade, it is thin and narrow which makes it especially great for butchering beef right in to filleting a huge trout or salmon.So far I have bought 3 of these knives. One for work, one for home, and one for my Mom and Dad. Even without the coupon, this knife is insane for the price. I would love for someone to find me a knife under $100 that is better than this.The BEST part is, if I somehow lose this knife, or drop it and chip it, or break the blade or handle, or if I just feel like giving it away one day, I know I can just go buy another one for like $26 and get it next day shipping.If I could complain about one thing: the sanding and polishing on the bolster could have been better, it is a little rough, and it is a little sharp in the back of the choyle/heel area, but not sharp enough to cut you or cause pain or discomfort. And there were a couple weird out of place scratches on the handle, like it was scratched somehow after polishing. No big deal, doesn't affect the functionality and I almost forgot to put it in the review.I will definitely buy this knife again. I have recommended this knife to everyone at work.Two huge thumbs up to finding my new daily driver.Just awesome.
