Cute - but make sure you know the original chess pieces - unless Space is the only way to teach someone the game
I like the Space pieces but do not recommend them for someone who has just begun to learn chess. This game will not translate to the real pieces and their names which most chess boards have. If you already know all the pieces and the way they move on the board than it is a fun adaptation.

Board and pieces are flimsy and cheap
I bought this for my 12-year old who is very in to all things space. This set is cute but is very cheaply made. One of the pieces was broken when we opened the box. Definitely not worth the price I paid. I am a bit disappointed. I expected better quality for the price.
