i7 8550u model
I got the 8th gen model and I'm mostly satisfied with it overall.Pros:1.good srgb: my spyder 5 elite calibrated it and this laptop had 92% srgb2.matte display, IPS, so wider viewing angle than tn displays3.very light and compact to carry around4.ssd = quick booting time5.1tb hdd = storageCons1.fan kicks in really loudly when I open browsers or software (e.g. chrome, photoshop),however, then it slows down and there's not much noise after certain time has passed2.the bottom gets pretty warm quickly, but a lot of laptops / tablets doRATING: 5/5I saw the price drop to $799 two days ago from about $850, so I bought it and the price went up to $899 today. For the price, I'm happy with the speed, light weight, color reproduction, viewing angle, matte finish, design, and the overall build quality.I bought this as a laptop to use with a graphic tablet (wacom), so I wanted a laptop with good srgb since I paint digitally.I would recommend this laptop to any college students and even for work purposes.

Great computer if you only use it for one memory intensive application at a time
Great screen, keyboard, sound, look, and feel. Phenomenal battery life. Constantly run out of memory. Only dinged one star since this is meant to be a very casual machine, but had to take something off because it's much worse than I expected in that respect.

Its a very good laptop, 1
Its a very good laptop, 1.2 Kgs, pretty light. I think this would be a good choice for anyone who is buying a clg laptop or a laptop to browse, watch videos and run office. I bought this laptop about a month ago, i.e. may 1st week. so far I have no complaints. The battery life is satisfactory, screen quality is good. When compared to DELL XPS 13, which is about 200-400 bucks more expensive than ASUS 330, The only difference I observed was weight and smaller dimensions, other than that the speed is the same, also, ASUS has a fingerprint sensor. I don't think DELL XPS 13 is worth buying for the given pros and cons if it costs 200-40 bucks more. ASUS has a look like MacBook, which makes it stand out among other laptops. The sound quality is really appreciable. The laptop is very personalizable, Windows 10 makes it even better. DELL and HP wouldn't include these many features as in ASUS since they r world reckoned brands. But I don't think ASUS is bad.I would highly suggest someone buy this laptop if he or she r looking for fast functioning and portabilityHeading towards, small things, the ASUS keypad has its power button where the delete button is situated, which really got me in my first week of use. I pressed the powered button instead of the delete button several times, :p. Also, the from F1-F12, the functions need to be operated with the function key, which is a bit :/, but now I have got used to it, so no complaints about it. Other that that, the keypad is very userfriendly. You would have read that the mouse pad makes it hard for the mouse to move across the screen, but the thing is, we must increase he mouse sensitivity in the settings.BUY THIS LAPPY!!

Started out great but power/charging issues ruined the experience
I own several ultrabooks and have a lot of experience to compare this laptop with. I bought it because it was light, fast (enough for family), and was supposed to have great battery life. After opening it, I was impressed. It was just the right size and weight. The screen looked great! After spending a few hours tweaking the system it was quick and I was happy. However, when it came time to charge the device the second time, it would not charge. After playing with numerous power cords, I realized it was the machine. I spent 20 minutes with ASUS tech support and they offered an RMA. I didn't want a new board, I felt burned. Maybe it was bad luck? Maybe not. If only it would charge it would get 4.75 stars.

What an amazing laptop. Buy this over the Dell XPS 13 and LG Gram, it's better and it'll still be cheaper.
I am an engineering college student who is super picky about their computer specs and hardware. I was also on a tight budget and in need of solid value laptop that would last me for the next few years. I've been looking for several months and trying to pick the best laptop for under $1000. I was torn between this laptop, the LG Gram, and the Dell XPS 13. Now that I've owned this laptop for a few months, I am so glad I didn't buy the others.I use this laptop for Microsoft Office, online homework, and for keeping all of my college homework files with me and accessible on the fly. This laptop has changed the whole college game for me. Not only is it so light and portable, but it is such a pleasure to use that I find myself actually looking forward to homework just so I can pull it out and use it.Pros:1) Fingerprint reader: what an awesome little part. Logging in is reliable and super quick with the reader. It also looks really cool on the laptop, and doesn't retract from the touchpad at all.2) 256 M.2 SSD: This is a must have. This laptop shuts down and boots over twice as fast as my iPhone 7. I couldn't ask for more.3) 3200x1800 resolution screen: This resolution packed into a 13.3 inch IPS display is such eye candy that I can't imagine having even a 1080p screen. The IPS looks very nice as well, with solid color reproduction.4) Precision Touchpad: The touchpad has a perfect blend of grip and slickness, and it's always reliable. It feels much like a Macbook Air touchpad.5) Keyboard: The keyboard keys and travel feel much like a Macbook Air as well, very comfortable to type on. The keys are right where your fingers expect them, and you will be at home on this keyboard in just the first time using.6) Battery life: the battery is seriously impressive for the resolution of the screen and the brightness it can reach. I take my laptop with me all day to college without a charger, and I'll come home with at least 60% left with around 50% brightness all day.7) Noise: I undervolted the CPU and GPU using Intel XTU, and now the cooler fan never comes on. The laptop stays cold, quiet, and efficient. Even when the fan does come on, it's at the lowest speed and not on for long.8) The i5-7200U is overkill for everyday college tasks on this computer, but it's still very nice to have because the laptop is doesn't stutter even for a second with anything. After undervolting, my CPU doesn't thermal throttle at all either.9) Portability: This laptop weighs 2.4 lbs, and is so sleek that it fits in any size backpack. Looks very nice as well, very similar to a Macbook Air. People compliment the circular lid etching on this laptop all the time.10) Ports: It has all the necessary ports: USB-C, USB 3.1, USB 2, headphone jack, memory card reader, and mini HDMI. All while having the thin form factor11) Sound: This laptop has speakers that are about as good as they get on these thin ultrabook laptops. Only the Macbook Pro sounds better, but that is in a whole other price range.12) Keyboard Backlight: Not all laptops of this thin form factor have backlit keyboards. This one has 3 brightness levels, which is hugely appreciated.Cons:1) The anti-glare coating on the screen does work well, and does reduce lots of glare. However, the display would be much crisper with the UHD if it was glossy. This would increase glare though, but this is my personal preference.2) Screen size: 13.3 inches is nice for a compact laptop, but it would definitely be nice to have something like 15 inches. The price difference is pretty hefty to upgrade to the bigger size, but I figured I'd mention this anyway.3) The VGA camera is very basic and unappealing. This was obviously a compromise to cut costs, but it's okay because it works fine. It isn't high res or high fps, but it can get the job done.Don't hesitate to buy this laptop, just make sure to buy the 3200x1800 display with the fingerprint reader if you do!
