Able Planet LM1000 (Detachable Microphone)
I love what this does as far as turning my noise cancelling headphones into a headset! The cord is plenty long. Volume control works great. Glad it came with the 2.5 mm adapter (x-box, cell phones, etc.) and laptop splitter (headphones/mic). I have no clue what the PTT (Push to Talk) button does, but that's no big deal.I would have given this 5 stars, but the one I received was defective. There was a loud humming noise that I could not get rid of (verified issue is with internal wiring). Working with Able Planet, and replacement should be arriving any day now.Even with that minor setback, I believe this to be an incredible product!

Good replacement for replacement cord
The original cord broke after six months. I tried to find replacement cord and could only find one for $20 + $10 shipping in an online shop. Able Planet charges $40 with shipping for the replacement cord. What a rip-off! As I was ready to give up, and through away the headphone. I found this one from Amazon. I was not sure it will work for me, as my headphone did not have microphone unit. For $15, I would give it a try. After receiving the microphone, I was able to install it and found my headphone works perfectly and now have a microphone for Skype. It is awesome.BTW, a generic male to male 3.5mm stereo cord should also work, but the one I got does not always give a good contact. Sound is a bit muffed as well. Does not sound as good as the one make by Able Planet.

Good mic, headsets both broke though
This is a pretty decent noise canceling mic. Way better than the one that comes with the pricy Bose headphones which is just a mic. This one don't project as much background noise. The problem is that my 2 pairs of Able Planet headphones broke. One got sat on (our fault) one the wire got loose and quit working (manufacturing fault) I don't know that I want to spend another $120+ for the non folding pair of Able Planet headphones, but recommend this mic if you need one.

OK, not sensational
I've only used the device a couple of times so far. The main shortcoming I noticed is that I don't hear my own voice through the device, so I guess I'll need to get used to how the headphones muffle what I say. Obviously I can hear myself, but it's an unfamiliar way of perceiving my side of the conversaiton.

Work well.
This is the mic for the Able Planet headphones. I bought the headphones at Costco and thought I'd give the mic a try. It works well. I've asked those who call how the sound is and most say it's fine. I'm satisfied; the package came quickly and was as advertised.

Weak Performance
I have an Able headset which works quite well. I ordered the detachable link microphone to deal with the normal conference calls. When I started using the product I had people complaining about my voice quality.I have a Bose headset/mic combo for use when I travel. I was forced to go back to the Bose setup for calls.I have not contacted anyone from Able to discuss the issue. My thought is when I pay 20~30 bucks for a cable with a mic it should work fore the typical conference call.

Excellent Mic
Originally I thought that I purchased a flop, but after some tweaking of my system mic settings, it's working perfectly. In the beginning when I called people they could barely hear me and they said that there was a very loud hum. I had to turn off the mic boost and work with the mic effects and now it's fine. Microsoft's speak to type and Rosetta Stone understand everything that I say.

Buzz in microphone
The microphone seems to be have improper grounding. Adjusting the microphone settings seems to help reduce the buzz, but doesn't eliminate the problem entirely.
