I was worried after reading some reviews, but this actually works great for planing to get a nice smooth finish on CP soaps. I do not bevel the edges of my soaps, but I tried on one bar, and it does seem to work. It makes beautiful soap curls, too! Be sure to watch your fingers/hand, as the blade is very sharp. As is, I have to do several passes because it’s set to plane very paper thin - but it is adjustable using a phillips head screwdriver.

When reading a lot of the reviews I was skeptical. My wife and I are soap makers and some times depending on season of the year we get the dreaded rine. So to plane it down it’s works perfect. My advise is to try it for your self, cause you never know

This did the job. It’s ok. In hindsight I would spend more money and get a sturdier one for mass production. This really is only for home made soaps. I don’t think I would want to use this for shaving a ton of soaps. But like I said, homemade soaps and not a lot, it’s good. Also no sort of covering for the blade part, I had to keep the bubble wrap over it so as not to slice my finger when storing it taking it out for use

This only takes a few swipes right out of the box and your pillar candles are flat. I had no problem with the quality/angle of the blade and it even cut through a piece of hanging cotton wick on the first try. The box is sturdy and well-made. Would buy again.

Works well

I really needed this product and bought it because of the time that it would take to arrive, and had better ratings compared to its competitors. Even after reading the comments I wanted to give the seller/ product the benefit of the doubt. Well… I recieved this item broken and hanging together by a thread. It was poorly manufactured. Just all together not a good product, you should really take some pride in your product that you are deciding to put on the market.

It works great until the last bit of the shave. It takes a chunk out of the soap.

As of this review this soap shaver only costs $13.99, which I think is very good for what you get. I make handmade soaps and purchased a much more expensive soap shaver which I've used for years. The Mandala Craft Soap shaver is very similar to my expensive one but is not as thick, nor does it have a vertical piece to keep the soap straight when using. Nonetheless, I think the Mandala soap shaver is a very useful tool and am glad to have it. The blade is the same kind as in my expensive shaver and is adjustable to get the shave you want. I like my shavings to be thin and this shaver does a very good job of that. My soaps get a nice smooth surface using this shaver.

Used it right away and does an excellent job planing and bevelling my soap.My soaps are 2 to 3 months old and it had no trouble planing off a very thin layer. The soaps look really wonderful now !Might buy a second one as a back up. Honestly I'm so surprised at how well it works, especially for the price haha

It does the job of shaving off your soap bars. It works for me.

Would recommended buying a higher quality product
