Do you use the entire box for one batch?

I just use about a third of a box for a big batch that serves 6 with leftovers. It's good but not as good as if you roast and grind the spices yourself.

Do I need to add garam masala to my chick peas as well, or just this?

You do not need to add garam masala. Only Chana masala will be enough.
