Organic Chemistry Stencil Drawing Template for Ochem, Orgo Chem, to Draw Molecular Structures and Lab use

Haven't used yet, but it looks like I'm gonna have some fun with this later. ^_^

I used this stencil so much in organic Chem! It helped improve my drawings which allowed me to learn better & keep thinks more organized. It had all of the stencils I needed, unlike some of the other ones I looked at.

I am able to draw structures that do not look messy.

Upfront disclosure: I received this for free from Amazon's Vine review program.I am a published bio-physical chemist and have taught both at the high school and college level. How I made it 27 years without one of these stencils I really don't know.I got to my high school chemistry lab room (my classroom) and decided to try this out. Obviously I knew it would work paper and pen, but these days I use a Remarkable tablet for most of my written work. As you can see in my photos, the stencil worked perfectly on my tablet with it's standard sized stylus.It has all of the major features I would hope to find on a stencil for Organic Chemistry. There are rings, carbon backbones (up to 9 carbons in the backbone) the chair and boat configuration for 6 sided ring structures, and a lot more! If you want really nice looking organic molecule drawings, this definitely will give you the results.The plastic seems fairly durable and appropriately flexible. I wouldn't expect it to hold up if you are just going to jam it in your backpack day in and day out, but in a binder, folder or desk it should last a lifetime.I was able to use it to make drawings of several molecules with great ease and perfect results. I love the fact that it included drawings for the rotation across a single bond between two carbon atoms. As a chemist who specialized in 3D structures of molecules, this is the kind of thing I really love seeing.If you are taking O-Chem and you want really neat drawings, or you are a scientist and/or teacher who needs to draw these structures on a regular basis, it is going to be money very well spent!

I love how it is inclusive of chair and boat conformations! Many of the other stencils I looked at did not include these, and they are very helpful for Organic Chemistry 1 and 2.

It is a simple single stencil. Flimsy. I thought it was expensive for what it actually is.

Sent via USPS with signature required...for a cheap plastic template not much thicker than the hard plastic protective shields for cell phones. I even had to finish punching out the cut plastic on some of the stencils.

I ordered this to help myself with drawing hexagon-based surface patterns, but I've studied enough organic chem to recognize its utility in drawing those endless hydrocarbon chains and benzene rings.It's a fairly standard stencil-type plastic sheet, made with all of the shapes and lines you need to draw almost any chemical formula. It's flexible, but doesn't bend easily, so it'll be hard to damage even if a student's gathering up books in a hurry because the library's closing.But it's also useful for drawing hexagon-based things like surface patterns and gaming map pieces, which is what I'm using it for. And it's heavy enough for me to use it as a painting stencil and wash it up between colors.
