In a few words, these headphones are great for listening, but made for mixing. The sound out of these cans are pretty neutral. Everything is tight from the low frequencies, of which this pair can resolve 5hz, all the way to the highest frequencies up to 35khz. That's quite a frequency response range and all of it is clean and crisp. This accuracy makes them perfect for mixing audio. The sound stage and stereo separation is slightly enhanced without colouring the source material. Even with its neutrality, these are still really fun to listen to. Music and movies just sound good through the drivers in these cans. There are two things to note before you buy your own pair. This version of the DT880 has an impedance of 600 ohm. This makes them slightly harder to drive, though I've gotten away with using them on mobile devices without an amp. You'll notice you're pushing the volume up higher than regular but mobile devices have enough juice to power them about two clicks below maximum volume. The second thing to note is rattling. Some Beyerdynamic's DT series headphones are prone to have rattling inside the cup/driver assembly out of the box. It's unfortunate, but not all hope is lost. If you find that one or both of the drivers is rattling, simply find a frequency sweep sound file from 10hz to 80hz and play it back through the headphones a few times at a volume just a little higher than your comfortable listening level. (Warning: do not wear the headphones when you play the frequency sweep at volume). Doing this a few times vibrates the assembly and should resolve the issue and help the different components inside the cup settle in. A few finger taps on the inside of the cup helped with my headphones as well.As expected with Beyerdynamic's engineering, the build quality of these headphones lands right in the middle of stylish luxury and premium utility. You get your money's worth here. They're also surprisingly light and the head clamp force out of the box is just right. Thes are easy to recommend to anyone.

Excels in all audio parameters
Very classy cans. Detailed sound that extends naturally to both frequency extremes. Have enjoyed my AKG K501s for many years. These Beyerdynamics lose a shade of the vast soundstage and transparency of the AKGs, but more than make up for it with boogie rhythm and deep bass. Very natural coherent sound. Delighted. Running them through the Beyerdynamic A20 headphone amplifier.

Great quality/assemled incorrectly
Love the headphones. They were improperly assembled as the two screws on the right side that hold the head strap to the speaker assembly had missed the holes and when I pulled it down to adjust it to my head, the strap pulled out and smacked me in the temple. Easy enough to fix but disappointing that it needed to be done at the price of the product.

Fantastic headphones.
Not sure if it's the Manufaktur or just a general change on Beyer's side, but the drivers in this pair are among the clearest I've ever heard. Super comfortable too, making for a fantastic pair of headphones. Definitely need an amp though...
