McFly: Unsaid Things . . . Our Story

I absolutely loved this book. I am someone who loses focus easily when reading so it usually takes a while to finish a book but I finished this book in about 2 days. I am from the US so I never really heard of McFly growing up but several months ago I discovered their music and fell in love. I had seen Tom Fletcher's viral videos before online but never looked into the band much until I was rewatching the Wedding Speech a couple months ago and was in tears because of how sweet it is. I decided to look up the band and then discovered their music. I had about 10+ years to catch up on so I bought a bunch of their songs, watched old videos and learned as much as I could. This book was the icing on the cake, it filled in all the gaps and then some! It is so well written, I was laughing and crying, and dreading getting to the end of the book because I didn't want it to be over (I really hope in a few more years they write another book of some sort). And I must say McFly has probably the most incredible story of how the band was formed. It was really a perfect storm of so many little moments that had to happen in order to create the McFly we know and love READ THIS BOOK!!!

It's fantastic because even if you are a McFly fan for years, there are things you can't possibly imagine. I really didn't have high expectations, thought it would have just a couple of uninteresting facts...I couldn't be more wrong. After you read it, you get a feeling that the guys are really just like anyone else. They've had happy, funny, glamorous, dangerous and really really serious and sad moments in their lifetime as a band. It's amazing that they decided to share so much with everybody. That's what makes them so....unique...so....McFly! It makes you laugh, smile, cry and mainly, understand so much about McFly and the decisions they made throughout their carreer. It is also great that the whole book is narrated by them. You can visualize each one saying what they are saying. I recommend it to any McFly fan :)

This book is incredibly entertaining, and a must read for all McFly fans. I finished it in two days, I couldn't put it down! It has all the inside info about the beginning stages of the band, which is pretty cool, as well as the guys' childhood stories. Lots of funny anecdotes and even some of their own personal struggles are documented in this book. Of course, it talks about the music and I found myself comforted and hopeful for what's to come in their future as a band and particularly about the direction of their next studio album, which promises to be a return to true McFly form... AKA AWESOME! McFly fans, you will absolutely love this.

What an eye opener! I couldn't believe my eyes at some of the things I was reading about these four lads! It was like reading a story about your best friend and then learning all of this dark stuff that they never told you about! But to see the truth behind the smiles, I've grown even more inspired by this band! Which I didn't think could happen. Well done lads, well done. 4 stars because the book does get a bit repetitive, but otherwise, it's like listening to a someone tell you a story.

In depth look into how McFly originated. They are so humble and gracious, never expecting success and always surprised at the success that came their way. My only wish was that the book ended closer to present day, but McFly is probably the rest of the story for part 2 :) I really feel like I learned a little about English culture as I journeyed through time hearing this fabulous foursomes tales. Thumbs Up!

Unsaid things by Mcfly was so lovely to read , it was so hard to put it down! Buying the digital version was just so perfect for me ,it was fast to download and I can read it on all of my devices so I can take this book where ever I go. I am so thankful with them for sharing such personal and private stories about their career and themselves. Theyre being 100% honest and i love that, because that shows they really want their fans to know them for who they are. Ive cried, laughed and made shock faces while reading it. I completely recommend it, even if youre not a fan, specially if you're starting a band and wanna make it big, its like a huge guide on do's and dont's and sticking together and staying strong through it all. Read it and have ready your McFly playlist...

It was incredible to read this book and truly understand the love they have for this band and the passion they have for music. It was inspiring to read the lows that the band went through and to see that they came out the other side with great success and happiness. It's an incredible read.

Für mich, wo ich McFly schon seit ungefähr 2005 verfolge, war es sehr interessant die ganze Story zu der Band aus deren Sicht zu lesen. Es wirkt hier nichts zensiert oder gestellt, aber vor allem alles sehr ehrlich. Man merkt das es mittlerweile keine Jugendlichen mehr sind, sondern Erwachsene die viel lernen konnten und auch heute noch viel lernen. Ich empfehle jedem Freund guter Musik nicht nur das Buch, sondern auch deren Musik (Vor allem live und acoustic versionen!)

I have been a fan of McFly since I was 11 years old. I'm now almost 20, McFly nearing their 10th anniversairy as a band. They have stated themselves that they chose to wait to release an autobiography until the time seemed right, not only for themselves, but for their fans. We have grown up together, and there couldn't be a better time to release their tales. Unsaid Things...Our Story never struggles to have an interesting and impacting story to tell. It begins with the initial coming together of the band, Tom first introducing his childhood and unsuccessful bid to join the boyband Busted before he met bandmate Danny Jones. Danny, Dougie and Harry then all introduce themselves and their diverse indivial childhoods in the order of which they became members of McFly, all the while we are introduced to the setting of the music industry that the story is about the delve into. Tom in particular makes facinating mentions of the difficulties that surrounded Busted at the time that McFly were forming. It is clear straight away that he is making allusions to what becomes a rollercoaster of a tale of the difficulties that have faced the band over the past 10 years. Busted split up in 2005, and as will become clear as you read this book, McFly feel somewhat lucky that they have failed to call it quits as of yet, or even to have fallen a bandmember short. This book is as honest as you can expect it to be. The bandmembers do not shy away from discussing private details regarding mental illness, attempted suicide and family affairs. Not a sentence of what is written even feels forced or uncomfortable for them to share. Dougie, for example, rightly refrains from speaking too much about his previous relationship with The Saturday's member Frankie Sandford, mentioning only what is needed to be known for the story he is telling, respecting her own privacy. It is Dougie, in fact, who provides the most emotional yet inspirational content of the book, showing the depth and inteligence of his character. It is easy to forget sometimes that the band, despite their long career, are still very young, and as a 19 year old I felt I could look over his teenager years, and those of his bandmates, relating them to my own experiences, and understanding their feelings as presented. Quite often in showbusiness we witness the decline of young stars who are messed up by their surroundings at such a young age. Quite clearly the band were not left unscathed, but they never deny that they are lucky and particularly show how down to earth they really are in discussing their travels to Uganda for Comic Relief. The emotional chapter shows their dispair at witnessing such devestating scenes of poverty and disease. Each individual bandmembers personalities seemed well displayed throughout their writing. Each paragraph was started with the first name of he who was speaking, but I found myself able to skip this and still identify who was who easily. The way in which the text flips between the opinions and stories of each bandmember is never irritating, flowing easily. Overall, I feel as if despite feeling like one of McFly's biggest fans over the past decade, only now I have a fuller understanding a respect for the band. It is clear, throughout the book, that they are perhaps one of, if not the closest band our generation has had the pleasure to meet. McFly have a friendship which, although may have be turbulent on occasion due to events discussed at length, remains apparent and key to the success and ever gaining reputation this band does and will continue to have. As they mention so well in the final and well structured end pages of the book, a decade may have passed, a rollercoaster may have been ridden, but the last few pages do not feel like the end of something, but the beginning. While the reader has had the pleasure to delve into the lives of these facinating men for the first time, there is a key understanding that the band themselves feel like writing this book has been an important and satisfying experience. I would certainly say this book is a must read, whether you are fan of McFly or just generally interested in the effects on people of being constantly in the public eye.

興味のない人には全くお薦めしませんが、McFlyをそこそこ聞いたことがある人なら楽しめると思います。また、イギリスのボーイズバンドがメジャーになっていく過程もわかって、近年の1D他のバンドのファンの人にも得るところはあるかも。 摂食障害や鬱病、依存症問題、リンジー・ローハンとのお戯れなどゴシップネタも勿論ありますが、それよりはMcFlyが成立する過程や、その後の各アルバムへがどのように作られ、あるいはどのように行き詰ってしまったかなど(最後のアルバムAbove the Noiseは日本での評価もいまいちですが、彼ら自身納得の出来るものではなかったことがわかります。)を、4人がそれぞれの立場から交互に綴っています。勿論、擦り合わせはしたでしょうが、1人が書いているよりは楽しめます。 最近Bustedと合体してMcBustedとしてアルバムを出しましたが、Bustedとの関係もこの本を読めばバッチリわかります。 ちなみにこの本にも記載のあるトムの歌による新郎スピーチですが、Tom Fletcherか McFly でYouTubeを検索するとすぐ出てきます。なかなか感動ものです。これから結婚する人には一つのアイディアとして参考になると思います。
