HO Scale Bachmann Trains Snap-Fit E-Z Track Remote Turnout - Left

i appreciate the Bachmann EZ track system because it makes setting up a track pretty easy. Some may say that the look is not completely realistic and that may be true, but I didn't need to make a museum display. The track is durable and it will support a long train on different surfaces. I just have to be careful with the switching as it can be a source of derailment.

Well made, easy to install. Connector cable is good length, but for larger layouts, an extension cable should be considered.

Originally, I had some issues with small locomotives hesitating or coming to a complete stop as they cross the frog in the turnout, if they weren't going fast enough. I discovered (I read the directions finally!!!!) I had to make a slight wiring change , which powered the frogs, as the rest of the turnout. The derailing also ceased to be a problem once I realized I had to throw the switch to the direction the train was coming from (as opposed to only using the switch to direct the direction it was heading). I'm completely satisfied with the quality of these turnouts, and recommend them highly!

I read all of the reviews on this piece of junk but then read other hobby sites..I figured the reviews were old and that the turnout/derailment problems were fixed. That was a fantasy I created. The rails in the frog are way off, one higher that the other. Filing them down would ruin the turnout, not that it isn't ruined already from the manufacturer. I cannot back up any of my variously manufactured 15 rolling stock cars on this turnout, they all derail ever time. My 200 dollar loco derails half the time just moving forward over the turnout. I have completely dropped my EZ track plan in favor of an Atlas code 83 plan...I will not deal with this issue and spend hundreds of dollars completing my layout scenery on this piece of junk. You can make up you own mind, like I stupidly did, on previous reviews and go against the grain, but you WILL BE SORRY, I guarantee you. This stuff is obviously made in some sweat shop in Shanghai with no specification control whatsoever, stay away and buy quality track. I pity the vendors who sell EZ track track complete track plan, because no one I know will every use this crap for a real layout. Horrible.

Sometimes they derail going over it,sometimes they don't, no matter how slow,the two movable rails have very little tension on them to stay there when train crosses.

Like all EZ turnouts, this needs tweeking. The points invariably need to be filed down to prevent derailment. There are numerous videos illustrating how to do this on YT. Once this is done, they work just fine.
