This was my first time assembling RJ45 connectors. My first few crimps were not good but by the 3rd I got the hang of it. I think either the crimper or the connectors are faulty. When making the initial crimp, the wires on the ends seemed to not always pierce, so I've deducted a star for that. The stripping works well on removing the shield and it cuts well. Just in case you don't know, the yellow tool can be used to punch down wires in keystone connectors. If you are wiring/fixing ethernet at home it would be a good idea to pickup some keystone connectors. The cable tester works fine, but you can tell it's cheap. The included "collars" worked fine for slipping over the cable. The kit is fine for small projects, but if I were crimping more than 15 connectors, I would invest in better crimpers and connectors.

I don't often have to make up RJ45 cables, but when I do, it's usually urgent - recently had to make up a few with passthrough connectors and didn't have the right tool on-hand (had an older-style "terminated connector" crimper), and was getting an absolutely miserable success rate. Grabbed this overnight via Amazon and the very first cable I made with it passed test on the first try - and so has every cable since. Although it has a built-in stripper it also comes with a cheap plastic+blade stripper that might be my new favorite cable tool, as it just seems to work every time as well. Very glad to have this in my toolkit - quick, easy, and reliable to use.

Worked very well, had a connection issue I had wasted a ton of time on that I was able to solve. The tester was very easy to use and helped me identify what was causing the problem. Then I needed to change two connectors, the crimper worked perfectly.

The tool itself seems to do the job. It crimps the connectors and cuts the passed-through wires cleanly.The tester is fine too. I didn't buy it for the tester, but it does what it says it will do.It comes with some connectors. In my opinion, they are junk. The connectors will not make a good connection with the wires (CRC errors and momentary loss of link) and do not allow the cable to be tightly crimped. Even if I use a different tool to crimp, the provided connectors do not clamp very well.I had some other pass-through connectors on hand that I know work well. They crimp just fine. So in conclusion, throw away the connectors this thing comes with. Buy some better ones to go with the tool.
