Best product on the market and safe for the environment!
This is the absolute best fire starter on the market. I’ve taken it on 4 camping trips through 8 national parks and no matter the weather, it always starts right up. No greasy residue that takes 20 minutes to start with a lighter held to it. Simple instructions, nice packaging, and it’s environmentally friendly. Couldn’t sing a higher praise for this and I know that wherever I go with it, I can start up a fire wherever and whenever I need it. This is now a must pack item in my day bag and my overnight gear. I’ll be a customer for life!

Kind of hard to start
We saw this on Shark Tank and had to try it because we go camping ALOT! We always do a fire and anything that makes starting the fire is great! I liked that they said that it wasn't harmful. So like roasting marshmallows over it would be ok. Loved that. You really have to pile the product up to get it to lite and to start burning your wood. Once we figured that out it made it a little easier to start.

WOW. It *is* HOT.
It rarely rains in Maricopa County (Arizona), but when it does,... -you don't want to get stuck in a 15-20 min microburst. It doesn't rain cats and dogs,... it's more like cows and cattle. The ferro and magnesium strikers didn't work too well lighting this media, but my trusty ARC Lighter was definitely the way to go. Once it got going, it was hot enough to dry the kindling i placed on top, and soon enough,... I was cooking in the rain :-)

Not great for over grates
Indoor fireplace use: Don't bother with this type of product for indoor fireplace. Since it is a granular it is hard to not spill through the grates of my fire box. I lay down a thin board and pour the product on top. I have had to use a whole pouch nearly to start a fire. A fire starter stick like what duraflame offers is much better for indoor fireplace use.Outdoor use: Super convenient pouch size is good for camping trips. A granular product like this works great for pouring a pile in the dirt and building a fire around it. I still think firestarter logs work better, but if you need the something super portable...this product would work well.
