Not as good as it used to be
Bought several of these mice 5 years ago and they were brilliant, but it appears that this mouse is no longer built to the same standard.The two mice I bought in Sept 2018 are nowhere near as good as the ones I bought previously - the left and right click buttons are more noisy and plasticy in their feel, and the scroll wheel feels a bit loose when turned. Most frustratingly of all, though, is that the mouse pointer doesn’t respond for a second or two after the mouse hasn’t been used for a few minutes. Perhaps this is a battery saving feature, I’m not sure, but my original mice from 5 years ago didn’t do this and it’s so annoying that I’ve had to stop using this new mouse.What a shame that Microsoft has let the quality slip.

Nice mouse, but rubber wheel deteriorates too fast
I bought my first one of these, and it's a really nice mouse. The blue light means it is accurate too on different surfaces. The only issue I've found is that the rubber wrapped around the scroll wheel deteriorates after only a few months, becoming tacky and deforming. I thought it was a one-off with my old mouse, so I bought a second of the same type and this one has failed after only 7 months. I won't be buying another 4000 series mouse, however I did see that the 3500 series instead has a solid rubber wheel, which I hope will be more reliable.

Comfortable to use and does what it needs to do
Comfortable to use - a bit smaller than a standard desktop mouse - but has a good quality feel. Does everything needed for a busy workaday laptop.~Update: still doing what it does very well, but now it's been used for a while, I agree with other reviewers that it does go through batteries quicker than I would like, but switching off between periods of use has improved this somewhat.~

the mouse has fallen apart in under 18 months
the rubber band that goes around the mouse wheel has disintegrated in under 18months, the thumb rest shows huge wear and tear.very disappointed.battery life has gone down substantially as well.

Ideal for what I need it for and it replced the old one that had given up perfectly. It arrived quickly, well packaged and with not problems. Would recommend.
