Edgar G. Ulmer Sci-Fi Collection

Nice collection. Looks great on blu ray
A nice collection of Ulmer's films that look great on blu ray. The best in the set is "The Man from Planet X". It is very atmospheric and an intelligent approach to the subject matter. "Beyond the Time Barrier" is also thought provoking. The weakest film is "The Amazing Transparent Man" which was very cheaply done and a bit over the top.

Classic 50's SCI FI!
FINALLY! I was able to buy on BLU RAY, " BEYOND THE TIME BARRIER" one of my favorite SCI FI films growing up! The Video is real sharp as is the sound a MUCH improvement over all those bootlegged copies!! Good investment on All three films indeed!!

Incorrect Aspect Ratios
I was really looking forward to this release, unfortunately the 2 films with 2k mastering have incorrect aspect ratios. "Beyond the Time Barrier" and "Amazing Transparent Man" are both 1.85:1 but SHOULD be 1.37:1 and 1.66:1 respectively. This presentation slices off picture from the top and bottom then blows it up to 16x9 which causes loss of clarity in some scenes and enhanced grain. The aspect ratios are correct on the DVD versions licensed by MGM to TGG Direct and I compared them. The problem is most apparent on "Time Barrier". The third film is properly presented and looks the best even though it's the oldest. Disappointing.

GOOD IMAGE QUALITY
Good collection at a good price, MAN FROM PLANET X being the standout. THE TRANSPARENT MAN may be the only movie with a clean-shaven James Griffith.
