Rubbermaid Sink Mat Divider, Small, Red Lines

As I write this the divider mat sits on my desk next to my computer. Actually using it will have to wait until I get home with it, but I have the in-the-sink mats and the dish drainer drip tray made of the same microbe-resistant Microban material, so I know the stuff works. I was skeptical before, but I won't buy anything else. If anything shows up (maybe after a couple of month or so), a gentle washing with dish soap and a light brushing cleans it up fine. No scrubbing or bleaching as my mother had to do to her mats. It must eventually wear out, but they stay clean a long time. Wonderful stuff these new Rubbermaid products.

This item replaced the older, rubber sink dividers Rubbermaid used to make, and so far, I'd say it's far superior in its heft and durability. I'd read complaints about the fact that it flattened out and did not conform to the shape of the sink divider, so I rolled it up when it first arrived and after several days, attached it to the sink. It is true that it's harder to keep it stuck to the surface, but it's not impossible, and I do prefer the thickness of the item and the fact that it seems to be easier to keep clean because foods do not penetrate the mat.

I have had this for a month now and am very happy with it. In our new place we have a white sink and I bought this to protect the middle and it works perfectly. It was a bit stiff for the first maybe day or two but once you've done a couple loads of dishes or give it time to "loosen" up it lays flat against the sides of the sink. It has suction cups to hold it down as well. I can't believe how hard it was to find one of these in regular stores.

I searched quite a while to find a sink saddle that would fit and look nice on my white porcelain sink. This did the trick, nice attractive design and the middle piece covered the entire length of the sink divider. I was a bit leery of buying this based on prior reviews, but the suction cups work just fine. The trick is to place it just where you want it, then pour boiling water over it to mold the plastic to the shape of the sink divider, then wet the suction cups and press firmly to the sides of the sink.

I received the sink divider on Feb 4th. Today is Feb 20th and this mat still does not voluntarily lay down over the sink divider. Both sides only flex down about 15 degrees. You push one down the other flips up. The suction cups on the back of the divider mat do not stick to anything, including itself. I've tried pouring boiling water over the mat and pressing it into place on the sink multiple times; however, as the mat cools it returns to its original injection molded shape(FLAT). Regardless if you bend, fold, roll, press, crease, twist, stretch, or heat it this mat will slowly works its way to its original shape, FLAT. I have to admit the material this mat is made of has outstanding shape retention properties, but that is not what is needed for this application. On the plus side you could re-purpose this useless item into a clever child's bath toy. Cut off the tab that sticks out on one side. Add two self adhesive bubble type eyes near the tab you cut off then add a piece of white flexible tubing at the other side and you now have an albino sting-ray for the bottom of your bath tub.

I needed a sink divider mat and this was the only one I could find, as there were none in stores anywhere. This one looks nice and holds up well, but it absolutely does not stay in place. The suction cups do not actually suction it to the sink, so if you are wanting it to stay in place, do not order this. It doesn't bother me too much that I have to keep readjusting it, but it is slightly annoying. However, I am dealing with it because I do not want the sink to get damaged.

I bought this sink divider mat to replace my old one that had pasta sauce stains on it. It serves it's purpose well, but doesn't want to stay suctioned to the sides of the sink. I'm chalking that up to the fact that it's new and it was shipped flat, so I think it might take some time for it to hold the shape. I already have a couple of small orange spots from sauce on the new one, so I guess I need to be better about rinsing the sink! I would have loved to get the black one, but it just wouldn't go in my kitchen. My porcelain sink is more than 20 years old, and these dividers have definitely helped keep it in great condition.

Rubbermaid quality. Suction cups fasten securely & do not pop off the sink. Stays nice & snug & protects well. I would buy again. These usually last about three or four years before it's time to purchase a nice white fresh one & start over. I will buy again. :)

very nice but suction cups ,on white enamal sink do not hold as good as i would like. pleased to have them.
