Doom 64
Doom 64 is what you would probably expect when looking at it, Satanic imagery (half of the game takes place in Hell, how could you not expect some type of reference to it), dark, gloomy atmosphere, eerie sounding music and plenty of demons.Well, if you expected any of this, you expected right. Doom 64 is probably the darkest game I have ever played. From my view/experience, the sound can definitely start to take its toll on you. At first you may be thinking, ''Oh, the music in this isn't so bad'', but once you progress further, into certain areas, the music may begin to start hitting you, along with its perfectly-fitted atmosphere. The monsters, albeit not every single one from the previous Doom games, are back to try to kill you. There are a couple of new monsters, however. The nightmare imp, for example, is like an 'enhanced' version of the average imp you would see. The difference? They're harder to see, their projectiles they shoot at you are faster and they can catch you off guard easily, but so could every other demon. There is a new demon you see only once..but I'll let you play the game and let you find out on your own.Anyways, the story, if you don't already know it. You're the same marine ('Doomguy' as some may call him) from the previous games, if you couldn't guess that. You thought you killed the demons for good, but there was one that slipped past the security areas and had resurrected all of the carcasses of the dead demons. You, having found this out, go back to kill all of the demons and then you continually progress towards the source of where the demons are coming from to destroy it. As I've said before, half of this game takes place in Hell. The other is within the halls of Phobos and Deimos. As soon as you're done killing the demons from there, you go to Hell. You kill all of the demons in Hell, then you make it to the final level. The level whose name, which was supposed to originally be the name of the game itself (changed to correlate with the system it was on; 64) is 'The Absolution'. In this level, you basically fight through every monster you've fought before, unless you find three artifacts, which let you prevent this and get on with the final boss. Also, you basically need these artifacts to kill the final demon anyways, otherwise you will stay up for many hours trying to kill it without them.Overall, this game is extremely fun. Very dark, spooky, evil and even humorous at times (if you die, don't press any buttons to see some very nice messages at the top left screen), which is what it was aiming for. I highly recommend this game if you're a Doom fan, fan of horror games or just looking for something new to put in your Nintendo 64.Pros to Doom 64:-Very detailed surroundings-Extremely spooky, mood-setting atmosphere-Demons that can help add on to the ''scare factor'' of the atmosphere-Really good variety of weapons (Weapons from the bloody chainsaw to the BFG9000, including a new weapon exclusive to the game)-Good mood-setting music to go along with the atmosphere-The roars and grunts of the monsters, along with them popping out of nowhere, can easily scare somebody and make them pause the game. Especially in little kids.Cons to Doom 64-The puzzles can sometimes probably make you wander around shooting walls and random things trying to figure out what to do. It's very annoying at times, but it definitely doesn't ruin this game by any means.(Review written entirely from my opinion and view/experience of the game)

DOOM at it's best!!
If you like scif/horror first person action games you can't go wrong here. Like in previous versions of this game, there are no objectives, you just blast your way through level after level of monster infested spaceports and labs. The enemies are still 2-Dimensional, but they have been revamped and look new and different. The weapons have also been improved. The framerate is very smooth and the graphics are clear and stylistic, with ambient lighting. There are 4 difficulty settings. The soundtrack is also very dark and ambient. The controls are a bit of a pain, you definetely have to adjust them. But theyr'e solid and fully customizable. This is one of the most fun shooting games Iv'e ever played. It's fast, simple, and intense. Doom 3 is great and all, but I still think this one is the best!

Hey! Someone turn on the damn lights.
I'm only deducting a star because of the brightness issue. This game is stupidly dark by default & I don't know how they expected anyone to play it w/o cranking the brightness up. Otherwise it's great & the only way you'll get to play this rare campaign of Doom. Special mention of Aubrey Hodges amazing soundtrack. The Doom theme has never sounded better.

Seller was perfect and now for the *BEFORE YOU BUY DOOM 64* review
Doom 64 is the only Main storyline Doom Installment that hasn't been ported to other Hardware. This game is best played on the N64. If you played D00M (2016) then you will feel like this game is the Prequel due to it's awesome most metal of endings. The Controls is horrendous w the N64 Gamepad. I'm telling you it is really hard to find the best control scheme for this game. IF YOUR INTERESTED, HERE IS MY CONTROL SCHEME FOR DOOM64My Control SchemeD-Pad no use except for precision (RARELY USED) movement.Strafe Left- Z-ButtonStrafe Right- R-BumperStrafe On- A ButtonUse- A ButtonRun- A ButtonShoot- B ButtonMap- ^up C ButtonCycle Weapons- <Left C Button and >Right C ButtonvDown C Button and Left Bumper are Not Used...Trust me the N64 Controller Makes Playing a Doom game Hard... Quake 64 owns this
...because, for me, in this game there is too much running around going, "okay what in the @#$% am I supposed to do now?" and "Where is the little arbitrarily-placed secret opening in some wall somewhere in the map which the switch I just pressed opened? Great, now I will probably spend 5 excruciating minutes searching for the thing. meanwhile I could be playing Quake." It is too frustrating for me because these elements (switches, keys) necessary to keep the momentum in the game going seem to me to be arbitrarily located around the levels, whereas in Quake there is a "rhyme and reason" to their placement. One time as I was playing this they hid a switch behind some secret armor inside a wall, but I got the armour and missed seeing the switch because it blended in with the background color and pattern. when I finally went back and noticed it I was fuming. This game is no fun for me to play at all, indeed, quite the opposite, sir.

Great purchase
Game froze a couple times but have played it a ton. You can save after every level so this wasn’t a huge deal. Game is so much fun and is different than the PC doom.
