Not a management book
This book was required by a college class I took. This is the worst textbook I have ever read. The title indicates that this book is about management. It's not. It's more about organizational theory and structure. It provides no insight into becoming a better manager. You could pick another management book at random and get more insight than this book provides. There's some specific reasons for this bad rating:- This book taught me nothing about management. Managing for Dummies would have been a better choice.- It seems to be written in a purposely disengaging style. It reads like a research paper, but with less focus.- The visual format is terrible. It's mostly paragraph after paragraph with few graphics to break the monotony. Compare this book to Kreitner's Management book and you'll quickly see the Kreitner book is far more visually appealing.- It's horribly overpriced. There's no way to justify the price of this book. I assume the only buyers are students forced to purchase it.The only positive comment I can make is that, if you're interested in organizational theory\structure, you may get something out of this book, but check for better alternatives.
