Excellent Boot
Excellent pair of walking boots. I measure at a 9.5 (UK size) and these are a size 10 (UK size) which fit me with enough extra room in the toe box to prevent my toes hitting the end when travelling downhill. The width is a snug fit so something to be considered if you have a wide foot type. They are well constructed with a good deal of support, especially to prevent lateral movement, and the heel cup is a nice shape and holds the heel well. Ankle support is also good but not too tight and with generous padding to prevent rubbing. The most noticeable feature is the weight which is very light given the overall size and appearance of the boot and considerably lighter than my previous pair. The sole looks sturdy with deep cleats which should be good on rough or wet terrain and the extra rubber protection over the toe should help protect the boot over time. All in all I can recommend these boots highly for general walking as well as trekking and hill walking on challenging terrain.

Severe nipping
I have had several pairs of these walking boots . However this latest pair purchased on the 5th Jan 24 I’m am now unable to use . They nip to the point where I simply can’t walk in them , different place on each boot though the left on the top of my foot it worse . Done 30 miles no better . Too late to return , won’t be buying another pair . Cost £224 .

Durable and comfortable but a flawed hiking waterproof boot
I should first point out that I did not have this specific version of boot but an older version (Quest 2). Many have argued in the reviews that the older boots were better made. I cannot verify or deny that, but if the Quest 4 are indeed worse than I would stay well clear as I don't overly rate my Quest 2.For all intents and purposes, the Quest 2 look almost identical to the Quest 4. I cannot see any differences in their construction or materials. The Quest 2 promise the exact same things. Let's start with the good. I bought these boots back in 2016 which if anything is a testament to their durability. The eyelets have however recently popped off which makes tying the laces up impossible and I'm not sure it's worth repairing. Apart from that, the boots still look in relatively decent condition which is remarkable. 7 years is not a bad age for a boot that got a lot of daily abuse out of. I must have easily done hundreds of miles in these boots. Unlike a lot of boots, these don't need a lot of time breaking in. They were an incredibly comfortable boot from the offset, which is a rarity as I often get blisters from wearing any new shoes.Despite the longevity of the boot, this is not a boot I would be keen to order again for many reasons. I found the grip on the shoes were quite poor. I have no idea why. The traction on these boots look the business, with some deep rigids, but I've had some seriously slips and falls whilst wearing these boots as the grip on wet or muddy ground and mountain terrain is shockingly bad. Just my standard running trainers have better grip than these boots. When you are hiking in the mountains it felt to me like these boots were practically a death sentence.Critically, I found the waterproof capabilities to be oversold and a waste of time. Walking through wet grass would guarantee that my feet were soaking wet afterwards. For the light rain shower, they provide ample protection, but I'm not convinced that these boots stand much chance when put through a real test. Once they are wet through, they will take days to dry out. I've now switched to wearing wellies on my dog walks through the hills, because I was sick of coming back home with cold wet feet. For the sceptics, I'd like to point out that my partner has the exact same boots which have lasted just as long, but they have exactly the same flaws. I don't think it's because I/we have a dodgy pair. When you add up the pros and cons, what you are left with is a solidly comfortable boot for dry conditions, but the flaws limit their overall practical use.

Poor materials. Salomon totally dismisive.
Flimsy, poor quality boots. Salomon strive to avoid their responsibilities.

Very dissapointed
Having used salomon equipment for skiing with no complaints, decided to buy a pair of Salomon Quest 4 hiking boots.First impressions were great, lightweight very comfy seemed really good quality. After 5 months toes started getting wet walking through long grass,so returned them and was given another new pair.Within about 7 months these were leaking around the toe areas in both boots.Went back but refused to replace as receipt over 1 yr old.Very dissapointed in these boots they don't stand up to much use and are not waterproof and I only use them.for dog walking on tracks.
