Self-Closing Gate Hinge - Works like a charm.
I had a big wooden gate that needed a self-closure to keep my dogs from getting out. It seems that maintenance workers often forget to close it when leaving. The Stanley hinge came in a 2-pack and was super-easy to install -- just screw it in to the post and gate. I thought it was a little pricey, but then, again, I am not used to buying anything other than plain old manual hinges. The instructions say that the Stanley hinges should be the ONLY hinges on the gate, but I was too lazy to remove the old hinges (they are reasonably new). I installed the new hinges in addition to the old ones. Everything works great, but it is important to align the new hinges with the old ones. You don't want any binding.Bottom line: Great product at an ok price.

Great hinges
Even though the description states for metal gates, I used it on my 2x4 that I mounted on a brick wall and they worked great! They noy only fit perfectly on the 2" side of my 2x4, they also seem very solid and sturdy.I highly recommend these hinges.

Expensive for you get but they work well
They resolved my broken hinge issue. Easy to install and adjust. A bit pricey but effective.

but the packaging as a clam shell that could have easily fit 20+ hinges
Outrageously large packaging. I am only dropping one star due to that, but the packaging as a clam shell that could have easily fit 20+ hinges. The box Amazon had to use was a bit bigger to accommodate the hinge package, and that box could have contained 50+ hinges, a total waste. If the packaging was designed to prevent loss in a store, that would do the trick, you could almost fit a loaf of bread in the box...Anyway, about the hinge. I have not installed them yet, and in my case will be using them inside for a 'cat door/barrier' (that I want to self close), so I will never be able to comment about weather proof-ness, but I will say they look well made and I did "pop the caps off" so I could see how the indexing works. (spring tension etc). Keep in mind these are NOT like steel hinges that can bend almost 360, they will only really be effective for a typical install with a 90+ degree swing. I predict if you were to set them to have enough force to close, and then swung them a full 180 degrees open, the internal spring might break. A regular hinge would swing easily that same 180 degrees and keep going (if nothing was in the way) to almost 350 degrees. So on the score of:1. Good looks these look great (IMO).2.Weather being kept out, they look like they would do the trick and the 'pop off cap' you remove to index/change the spring tension looks great. NOTICE if you remove the caps to adjust the springs PUT DOWN A DROP CLOTH or be DARN sure you hold onto the caps. Once "popped off' they are about the size of a nickel and if you drop them you want to find them. If you were in grass or leaves and dropped them you might never find them. Keep in mind when dropping things they typically go WAY FARTHER than you thought possible (at least for me they do). Drop cloth idea will make it very easy to retrieve them. without them back on the hinge would be severly compromised and get full of water (then ise if in the cold) and the hinge would get wrecked. Also plan to mount the hinges so the cap is face up (so you can get to it easier. I predict you could install them face down and be functional, but adjustment and removal/install would be harder and there is almost no point with a little planning.

They are very sturdy
Very sturdy and they were a match for the old ones I replaced. I used self tapping screws so I put them in a slightly different position to make sure they were going to be tight. They work great after adjusting the spring tension screws on hinges.

These worked GREAT. Notice that you can "adjust" the tension
These worked GREAT. Notice that you can "adjust" the tension, I didn't realize that until I mounted them.HINT: adjust the tension to have zero tension, it makes it easier to mount. Then after they are mounted, dial up the tension! Be SUPER careful not to lose the screws. These hingers are not that expensive, and I put them on an ocean "dock" so they are exposed to sea air and they look like they are covered in a synthetic coating that will last for years. So far so good, very happy with the purchase.

very intelligent in design
used these on a wood gate in the backyard. Mounted easily in a small space, very intelligent in design. Anyone looking for a minimalist hinge should consider these. Returns readily to closed when released without a slam, and able to be held open by a standard magnetic door holder.
