Parenting The Child You Have: Re-Imagining The Parent-Child Relationship Through The Lens of Human Design

When I need to remind myself of unconditional love, as well as having utmost patience and compassion for my teenaged son, I reach for Aypril Porter's book. It helps me to relax and surrender, to know that things will turn out okay. My absolute favorite chapter is Chapter Twelve: Why Children Misbehave. I've underlined so many parts in this chapter, as well as the rest of the book, especially the "four basic behaviors that children use" that can help parents understand what needs that "aren't being met" because of "how their behavior makes US feel." Wow. Definitely life-changing advice. One of my favorite parenting books. Right up there with Dr. Shefali's Conscious Parenting book. Highly recommended even if you don't know much about Human Design (which I don't really do, but luckily, have had the opportunity for personal coaching sessions with Aypril herself). This is a great pairing with coaching or with one of Aypril's online parenting courses!

As a refector mother to MG, G, and projector along with a projector husband I definitely was looking for a book just like this. something to help guide me as I am fairly new to all this and I am the only reflector In my family including my parents/ siblings and so on . I was looking for a book to help me parent them and also help nurture myself as this book includes different profile type parents which I really find helpful to understand not only them but our ways as well and how we can help them and ourselves. I am learning astrology and will be adding this to my parenting with astrology tool box. this is so wonderful for us parents that seek a deeper connection to our children. I love how it's easy to understand for beginners and how it gives practice advice on learning and behavior and more. so thankful to have been recommended this book. definitely a game changer for sure.

WOW! This book is incredible. Parenting is rewarding and, at times, the most difficult job I've ever had. Often, I feel like I'm just guessing. This book is the instruction manual I've been searching for! Ms. Porter does a masterful job combining the teachings of Human Design with practical, real world experience. There are so many tangible, actionable pieces of advice in this book that I know I will return to it time and again to hear the wisdom as my child grows. Not only does it help me to understand him better, I've learned more about myself as a parent in the process. It's also given me a chance to reflect on my relationship with my own parents in a new way. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in finding a new lens through which to view the parent/child relationships in their life.

I purchased this book after a podcast interview with Aypril, mostly out of interest, but found so much more. Not only did this book help me to know my child more, but helped me with my own inner child. I found so much healing and understanding in the ways I did things, and how to process and find new perspectives in regards to the responses that I got from others that either nourished or didn't support my way of navigating through the world. So helpful with gaining a deeper meaning in all of my relationships as well.

Definitely a great book but it is pretty basic.It's worth the read no matter what level you're on. I wish there were more books on teaching children HD."Human design is for the children" ~Ra

This is a very good book not only for using HD in parenting, but a solid explanation of Human Design in general. Most Human Design books seem to either present the material as if you already know a lot about HD or give so much information that it's hard to put pieces together. Parenting the Child You Have presents just the right amount of information to understand HD and useful tips for not only parenting children, but understanding yourself as well as interacting with all humans. I find Ms. Porter's style of writing very easy to understand and hope she writes more on the subject.

Amazing book helps me understand the best way to approach raising my child. Solid advice even if you are a human design novice! I’m learning a lot about my own childhood as well and how rad it would have been if my own parents had a copy. Putting a lot of bookmarks in it so I can come back to reference specifics later on.Get it!

As a huge fan of Human Design, I was so excited to read a book devoted to parenting.This book would have served me well in the beginning of my parenting journey. I’m glad to have it now not only to inform my parenting approach, but also to deepen the understanding of myself and my own childhood.

Súper great book i just finished my Certificate of Human Design and this book really complement with an easy language all about the kids and how to guide them. Just perfect.

I have been studying Human Design for quite a while now and have tons of HD books. This one is one of my favourites! Thinking back, it actually got me started with Human Design (thank you, Aypril!). It opened my eyes to the beautiful possibilities we have as parents and how important it is to carry this knowledge out into the world. For our own children and for all children.So sad, that many of us adults need to de-condition ourselves to be able to finally lead a happy and fulfilled life. By using this book as a reference guide, I feel quite sure that I can support my children to be in a better place than I was. It is written in a very practical way, with lots of tips and thoughts for everyday life.It has helped me understand my kids at such a deep level! I now even love their "quirks" instead of getting infuriated by them, because I see where everything is coming from. And why those quirks are exactly right for them! (they aren't for me, but my Human Design is totally different from theirs).For any of you with a bit of HD knowledge: I am a 1/3 sacral Generator, my daughter is a 2/4 emotional Manifestor and my son is a 3/5 splenic Projector. You can imagine how hard it was to "get" them! Especially my daughter often drove me up the wall, I was afraid of her reaching puberty... Now I see the gifts she has as a Manifestor, and she was always behaving in a way that was exactly right for her!! Instead of fighting these things because I just didn't understand or relate, I now celebrate them. What an amazing shift!And I share my insights with her, to help her understand herself better. Which is extremely empowering to her, especially her profile used to feel problematic to her (her need to withdraw often, even though she loves her people). This she even noticed by herself and asked me about it: "Mama, sometimes I love being around people and sometimes I just can't have it. Is that also in my Human Design?" A perfect analysis for a 10-year old! Which shows how aware already our kids our. And how important it is to not break them or try to mold them into something they are not.Since talking about HD with my children and embracing their unique gifts, they both feel so much stronger and more in peace with themselves. Our world, especially our kids, need this knowledge! So they can live their true unique selves.And Aypril Porter has done an amazing job with her book, it will open eyes and hearts! Highly recommend! In-depth knowledge given in an empowering and understandable way!

Aypril has explained human design perfectly for the parent that wants to understand their child for who they are and foster that. Grateful for the insights in an understandable way.

Ich konnte so viele Parallelen entdecken und hatte gefühlte 1000 Ahas. Es gibt viele Punkte zum Anknüpfen, Lernen, Umsetzen und Vertiefen und wir profitieren mit unseren beiden Kindern enorm von Ayprils Wissen und ihren Erfahrungen. Ich danke der Autorin aus ganzem Herzen für ihre Energie, die sie in das Schreiben investiert hat und freue mich dermassen auf den Online-Kurs!

I love how informative the book is. However, it came with the front page folded, as if it's been used before or not being handled carefully enough before sending.
