Written like a medical manual
The author, Linda Osceola Naranjo, has written this medicinal herb book like a medical manual. I appreciated all the detailed information she included within its pages. I've been studying it like I was back in nurses' training; I ordered the book back in January of 2022, it is now August as I write this review.Linda gives info on the herbs' medicinal and food purposes, along with instructions for the best extraction techniques of the herbs. I take the book out to the fields and timber areas of my farm to see if that particular herb I'm interested in is growing on the land. Ones that I'm unfamiliar with I look up online to get good pictures of them, and then I use "Picture This" app in the field to help identify the plants I find. The author gives history of each herb listed in the manual accompanied by the different Native American tribes' usage of these herbs. She also lists tips for the products and warnings about using certain ones. What was most interesting, she supplied different scientific research studies with the results.I recommend this read to all those desiring to learn more about wholistic health alternatives. I'm blessed to have an MD as my primary caregiver that leads his geriatric patients to healthful supplements instead of simple prescriptions. He took me off 20 medications I was on that were adversely affecting my health and placed me on supplemental herbs that are working better for me without the side effects. This is helping to make my later years much easier to move about with limited pain and other health issues.

Surprised how much I'm enjoying this book.
I have recently started diving deep into the history of herbal medicine. I first began learning about different ingredients, recipes from a place in Asia. Since I have Native American heritage I wanted a book that could help me learn more about what kind of herbal medicine was used in Native American culture. This has been helping me learn things I did not know. GOOD BUY

It's not a bad addition to an experienced amateur Herbalist
I got the book for 10 bucks early in sales. I do not regret the purchase but I am not a complete newbie to herbalism. If you're new to plant medicine this is NOT the book to start with.Covers various ways to preserve and use plants decently well. The drawings of the plants are inferior to any other book I've read. You will need a plant ID book to go with this one. I did not recognize 3 of my favorite plants in the drawings. Each is very distinguishable from others.I am excited to read the concepts of growing herbal/wildflower gardens they attribute to Our Natives. The book may redeem itself there.Over all, for 10 bucks it doesn't suck. If you're new, there are better books on each subject. As I type the cost is up to $40+.You will learn more and spend more in the long run, with the known basic herbal guides. I suggest that route unless you are ready for the points I spotlighted from this book. Go get dirty and love God's plants.

Important indigenous knowledge
As an indigenous ethnotbotanist I value resource books which properly reflect our heritage.
