Rolling Spider

I bought mine and I love it!!! I did the firmware update as soon as I got it and I also updated the freeflight app. I also have the AR drone 2.0 and the Bebop and I use the Nvidia shield tablet that has the joysticks controllers that gives you so much control over the drones. With the rolling spider you do have to tell the Nvidia shield to switch to "joypad mode" so you can use the joysticks. Once you do that you have so much control of the flight with the rolling spider. It also makes it so much more fun!! I just wish they would make the little drone with a streaming camera just like the jumping sumo. I have a small drone that is the same size called the Hubsan X4 H107D That has streaming video. It's only 640 x 480 and you can take 2MP pictures with it also. I am sure Parrot could make something that is the same size with a slightly better camera. I just hope the next gen of the mini drone will have a streaming camera. But overall it is a lot of fun to play with. Just make sure you do your updates and get a good tablet. Because it also depends on the tablet you have for your drone. If you buy a cheap tablet you will have issues and you will think the problem will be with the drone when it;s the tablet. I suggest buying a dedicated tablet for the drone you buy. The one tablet I would suggest is the nvidia shield tablet controller. They come out the box ready to use with the AR drone 2.0 and Bebop. But you have to switch it to "joy pad" for it to work with the joy sticks on the Nividia shield tablet.

I have had this item for approx. one month now. I have not had any issues with battery life, other than being shorter than I would like. On average the battery tends to last the manufacturers quoted time of eight minutes without the wheel attachment. However, when performing flips and barrel rolls the flight time is significantly reduced. The controls, through a phone or tablet, did take some getting used to, but after a few flights are relatively easy to get the hang of. My only complaint is photos taken while flying are not automatically placed into your device's photos. I still tend to think the manufacturer website implies this capability. Overall, this thing is a blast and everyone I show it to wants one.

The Rolling Spider is a pretty neat little gadget. It's fun to fly and it's pretty powerful. If you want a toy to play with INSIDE and you don't mind switching batteries every 8 minutes or so, then this little guy is perfect for you.This item was a Christmas gift that my son bought with his own Christmas money. He had it all of four days and he was flying it outside on a clear afternoon with no wind to speak of and the drone just flew straight up, almost out of sight, then flew away! We've searched and searched and it's just gone. I attempted to call Parrot at the number they provided in another review (877-9PARROT) and the number appears to be out of service. From what I've read (unfortunately, too late!) PARROT is aware of this problem. They should NOT market this as an outdoor toy and they should forewarn customers of this problem. Total waste of $100. The sad part is, this could be fixed with a simple shut off option. If the drone would power down and land as soon as it gets out of bluetooth range this wouldn't happen.The battery life isn't the best and I would recommend extra batteries so you'll always have some charged. I would also recommend you KEEP IT INSIDE!!! In hindsight, I wish we had read more reviews and purchased something else because this was a TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY.

I'm reading all of these apocalyptic reviews of how horrible, terrible and downright evil this drone is. And I have to say that I'm thinking that these "reviewers" might have some vested interest in trying to destroy its reputation.I do have to say that I'm less than impressed by the documentation, but other than that I love this thing. It works beautifully with my Galaxy Tab S.The drone is fast and very responsive. I have no trouble at all controlling it. And if you are having any trouble learning how to control your drone there are some great videos on YouTube.
