INCI name: Beeswax; EU name: Cera Alba. Beeswax has been known since dawn of time for its great properties: moisturizing, emulsifying and waterproofing are just to name few. Because of its pliable nature and complex structure, beeswax remains vital raw material for many finished goods. No wonder it's one of the most popular ingredients in many cosmetics products from mass produced to high end. Beeswax is the purified wax from the honeycomb of the bee, free from other waxes and impurities. It is commonly named white wax when bleached and yellow wax when not bleached. Bleaching is a loosely used term and this process does not always involve bleach (process is manufacturer dependent). Beeswax has distinct and unique odor; however, it does not smell like honey.
