How long does a dose last?

It is a daily use chew & as long as my dogs got their chew everyday I had no issues. One thing I learned from my vet, was that your pet should be checked for worms (flea tapes). Once I had my dogs wormed, I had no more reoccurring flea issues.

does one chew work for a month or is it just a quick solution?

One chew works for 24 hours. This isn't so much for preventative unless you're giving it to them every day. I gave my dogs a good thorough flea bath (which never works 100%) and then started the chews. They've had them for 3 days so far and the only fleas we've found were either dead or moving so slow you could tell they were dying.
