Beautiful story telling.
Abhaya - The Destroyer of Adharma, book by Saiswaroopa Iyer is a readers delight, its a fiction based on Mahabharata. The story takes us to ancient times and revolves around the kingdom of Dwarakha a newly built port city , Angha - the city of warrior princess Abhaya, Avanti - the border state of Anagha and Kamarupa - the kingdom of Bhauma. Its a story of a Brave Princess ,who right from her childhood places herself in place of the hero of every story she had been told, that makes her fearless and fight the situation rather than right sucide letters. She was worried about condition of women in Bharatha and their forced marriages in the name of Swayamvara.Vaasudev Krishna the Yadava leader of Dwaraka is a childhood friend of Abhaya DharmaSeni, the daughter of Dharmasena.Who helps her save her life when her city is attacked. The story that follows is rather more interesting and adventurous. From where a princess becomes a warrior princess. The book pictures different conditions of women, Princess Mitravrinda who breaks free from ambitious brother Anuvinda by marrying Krishna, with the help from Abhaya. Dhatri Mahayogini of Kamarupa the powerful lady ,who doesn't even know she how powerless she is ?Abhaya who believes in herself and doesn't want to write sucide letters to save her and accomplishes her journey by herself.Other characters like Senapati Mura, Narada Muni the Messenger, Shyeni and Vikramasena and the class between the Shaktas and the Rest is very interesting and plot retains the interest of the reader till the very end. Last few chapters of the book keeps you glued to the book. Feels like watching a suspense thriller.Thank you Indica Books for this wonderful book.

Abhaya - Brief Review
The book is based on the main character Abhaya dharmaseni the fearless princess of Anagha, the way the author has woven a good novel around few important characters with a timeline of puranic or janapadas is fascinating. Each character of the novel plays its own important role in the book , every instance has a cascading effect on the plot which keeps the reader engaged in the book. The clash between the two sects of a religion is carefully written here , moreover readers get to know more about shakta's way of worship of Supreme goddess than the Arya dharma.Abhaya's love for anagha and the way she responds as statesman while living as a refugee in indraprasta is well portrayed in the book.At certain places the author's excellent work in displaying rasas through the characters is so amazing: abhaya's prema and viraha towards krishna , dharmasena’s prema towards his children and peoples of anagha .bhauma moha for power, shantha swaroop of Krishna.Only drawback I found was a bit of information on how shaktas spies used to trap young innocent girls bharavasha and how the spy network worked for bhauma and jarasandha would have made the novel even more interesting to read.Kind of a good book to recommend for young hindu adults and teens who correlate to the characters in the book and the places presented in the book.

Disappointing
Why was the previous novel presented as new novel when it was simply a repeat of the first novel entitled Abhaya?
