While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one. All thoughts & opinions are entirely my own.A very awesome book cover, & great font/writing style. A very well written romance thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great romance thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. To be continued. A very easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free Sage River Press Book; Bookfunnel; Author; PDF bookTony Parsons (Washburn)

Just not my genre
I was looking more for a mystery than a romance novel. Well-written for the genre, but too light for me. However, I do know some folks to whom I would recommend this author.

5 stars for The Emmalee Affairs. This is a very moving story of love, loss and family in a beautiful locale that could be called Paradise. But, even paradise has it's troubles.

Charlevoix Vacation Read
My wife and I each read The Seasons of the EmmaLee and were moved to take a vacation in Charlevoix. We traveled over 1500 miles from Florida along with our wonderful labrador. We spent almost 2 weeks in northern Michigan and set up base camp at a wonderful condo in Charlevoix. We took day trips to Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and Mackinac Island, but Charlevoix was our favorite. We were able to imagine and relive the events portrayed in Michael Lindley's outstanding historical novel as we walked through the wonderful shops bordering the harbor filled with yachts. Downtown Charlevoix is like a real live post card. We would have missed this wonderful town if had not been for the very accurate and moving descriptions of Charlevoix in his book. Thank you Michael Lindley! Folks do not miss this great read, but be aware that you will want to plan a trip to northern Michigan well before you get to the page that says, The End.

Engaging, Captivating, Beautiful writing
What a wonderful read! ‘The Seasons of the Emmalee’ has everything a story needs to be captivating and engaging. In fact, it’s double that with two storylines, decades apart centered around a grand ship called the Emmalee. Author, Michael Lindley entangles the stories beautifully and the best reading came with realizing the connections between characters and the Emmalee. Mr Lindley’s writing flows keeping pages turning with emotional encounters of characters and deadly actions caused by the clash of two classes, rich and poor. The amazing setting descriptions literally put me in the idyllic resort of Charlevoix with characters I came to know and care about in both times, 1940 or present. I loved Mr. Lindley’s writing style and his storylines decades apart were cohesive and created an excellent read. For me, no doubt it’s the sequel, ‘The Summer Town’, to see where Michael Lindley takes the Emmalee and it’s characters.

A truly beautiful story
I did wonder at first if I was going to stick with this book as I couldn't seem to get into it at first. However, I persevered and I'm so glad I did. A beautiful boat and some beautiful people (in the main) and some amazing descriptions of the land and sea - you almost felt you're there. Do stick with it, you will not be disappointed.

A Good Read
It took me a while to get into this book as it tells the story of two generations and alternates between the two which I always struggle with. Once I got into it though I did enjoy it and would recommend it.
