LED ClubBlack Light LED Micro Raver Light

I initially bought this keychain black light to incorporate into a project for my art class. It had to be very small, so I found this keychain and ordered it. It arrived shortly after I ordered it. I started playing around with it. The visible light doesn't shine very far, but the ultraviolet rays go quite far. I saw things glow 10 feet away from me on the other side of the room. Further away things probably would have glowed also if I had had a larger room. There are, however, two problems with this keychain black light. First of all, as many other reviews have said, the switch stopped moving as soon as I got to my art class the next day. Naturally, I unscrewed it, and on the inside I found two batteries, one LED, and a tiny plastic tube that appeared to have been dislodged somehow. I couldn't figure out how the switch originally functioned. It must have been extremely inefficient for it to have stopped working so quickly for so many people. Since it was significantly easier for me to incorporate the pieces of the keychain than the keychain itself into my project anyways, I haven't yet attempted to fix the switch in a more efficient way, but I believe that a small metal plate, paper, and electrical tape is probably all I need to fix it. The other problem is that the circuit was only an LED and batteries. If you know things about circuitry, you probably already know why this is bad. If you don't, then all you really need to know is that if that's all you have, everything will get hot if you have it on for longer than just a few seconds and your batteries will die very quickly. To fix it, all you need is a small resistor. I added a resistor to my project and I plan on adding it to my keychain as soon as I am able to take everything back out of my project.Aside from the circuitry problems, the plastic casing seems to be of decent quality, and I really like the overall shape and colors. The LED works nicely and does a great job at illuminating things that black lights are supposed to illuminate from surprisingly far away compared to its size. I can't say much about the battery life because I haven't had it actually on for very long, but the batteries should last longer with a resistor than without a resistor.So if you're not afraid to take it apart and fix a few simple things, get this keychain. If you are afraid, either find somebody to fix the few simple things for you or look for a different keychain.

The first one that was shipped came with a dead light bulb. I contacted them for a replacement, and they responded within hours and shipped me another one. It came even faster than the first one.The flashlight itself is a little flimsy, but well worth the price. Other commenters have mentioned that the light seems very dim, but for a black light it seems bright. It can "light" up a UV reactive object from across a dim room. For the light's size, I am impressed.

I could barely get uranium glass to shine with this light, let alone anything else. The light has to be pressed right up against anything to make it glow. See photos for a comparison with a different uv light that actually works. I bought this keychain version to have a easier to carry uv light, but immediately regretted it. Don't waste your money on this.

I guess it is technically a blacklight but if you have ever used a regular one you will find this extremely lacking. The image where you can actually see the spot is a hand held black light. The image with nothing pictured is the key chain. There are also 2 pictures of stationary to sgow the actual black light vs this keychain. Vert weak. Couldn't illuminate a 5x8 card stock very well.

Well, I didn't really want a purple flashlight, since the photo is black and the description doesn't say that it'll be a random color.

I ordered 15 of these for the kids to play with at my son's glow-in-the-dark themed birthday party. I had to open all the packages and hide them because they stated these are used for finding animal urine. Not exactly what everyone will use them for! Product was fine, but packaging is kind of gross.

I use this light at my job, a lot of the turbine oils used in aviation have a special compound that lights up under black light and this keychain is light enough to EDC and bright enough to illuminate oil leaks with just a little bit of shade from daylight. Works better than some of the other black lights I've purchase for around the same price, the next step up would be to purchase a professional grade black light that has a higher output. For how often it's used though that's a little too much money to spend on a dedicated tool.
