4/5 great gloves, small gripes.
I bought these as a replacement for my regular pair of mpact gloves, the grey/black ones. as the velcro had long departed and they had developed holes in the fingers. I had great expectations for these gloves as my previous pair had held up for over 2 years of near constant use and abuse. the company I work for does everything from the roof to the foundation, so I have a rather harsh work environment for these. I wear a size medium if that means anything to you.now here's the list of small things I don't like about these gloves:-the leather: it's not "leather" but it's not "pleather" either, it's somewhere inbetween regular work glove leather and that material used in the regular mpact gloves. the issue is that if it gets wet it stays wet, for like 16 hours. if you handle a water hose (ie: concrete guys) look elsewhere.-padding/material used: the D3O on the palm is nice, but it's far too thin, and doesn't extend to cover the thumb/forefinger well, where you hold most vibration inducing power tools, so it's basically useless. however it's nice to have. The knuckle padding is nice, saves me from obliterating my knuckles when my atrocious cheap ratchet decides to cam out with my entire bodyweight behind it. Your hands will get SWEATY, and fast, on top of that they're not too insulated in the winter. I find putting on a pair of surgical gloves under these works wonders for insulation. The nice little strip of microfiber(?) cloth that extends from the back of your thumb to the wrist area on the regular pair of mpact gloves is for some reason absent on these, just why? the material there is akin to that of the shell on a carhartt coat, it took me weeks to figure out that I can't wipe the sweat from my face with that part anymore.-the velcro: expect it to clock out after about 2 months. every single pair of velcro closure gloves I've ever owned has had this happen to it, I come to expect it, and haven't found a sensible way to prevent it. I just seam ripper the velcro part off and replace it with some off of a roll, it works reasonably well. the female(?) part of the velcro on the tail end looking thing eventually wears out, and you'll need to replace the gloves entirely at that point, but that doesn't usually happen till every other part of the glove is beyond repair as well. if that doesn't sound like your cup of tea, get the fastfit pair.comfort: not as comfortable as the regular mpact gloves. I don't know why, I can't exactly place it, the inside is of a far different material, it just feels rougher, and the stitching at the ends of the fingers on the inside of the gloves is rather rough/sharp, and likes to position itself to jab under your fingernailsusability: I give it a 10/10, takes some acclimation to the dexterity (or lack thereof) and the inability to reasonably use pockets with them on, but I find that a non-issue because I'm wearing pouches and a toolbelt literally 24/7.

Not as durable as Mechanix normally are
The seem on the left thumb started to separate after the third use.

Work around the house..
These impact gloves are better than most medium dexterity gloves at being able to grip small objects as well as carrying wood or any work where your hands might get banged up a bit. I was a carpenter for many years when I was younger and these gloves might have worked but there would have been a problem getting nails out of the pouch because of the bulky padding on the back. Oh sure, they would have felt wonderful; warm, soft (once they break in) I always bought gloves as tight as I could stand it (I got medium in this glove) so that they would break in to fit very snuggly. I had to dig around in nail bags and pull tools out by feel, so it was hard to find gloves that were both warm and nimble enough. But if your looking for gloves to handle large metal tools or swing an axe in? these are perfect. The leather palms feels good and grips fairly well. The only thing con I could see would be the fact that the leather would not stay dry in wet sloppy conditions. And I've used gloves with the soft leather palms like these before framing houses (which is torture on gloves) and I'm pretty sure that I would have worn the finger tips through fairly quickly.. But, I wore through all gloves, no matter how tuff, and I wore them to the point that they were just rags anyway. Even worn out they helped keep from beating my hands up so bad. Go ahead and get these. well worth the price. On a different note, they would make a good cold weather tactical glove as well.

Great gloves
Only reason I'm giving them a four is they could be a little roomier. Otherwise, great gloves.

Great gloves for yard work
I finally replaced my first pain of these gloves after 8 years. Highly recommend because of the durability and they ease the vibration from the weed whacker, blower and other power tools

Protects you from other things, but not from themselves
The plastic on the back of the fingers was ill-advised. Far more often than protecting, it just interferes with hand movement because it doesn't articulate well enough at the knuckles. Related, and the biggest issue, while the gloves are sturdy and decent protection from tools and other things, the gloves themselves end up being rough on the hand with hot spots caused by stitching, inserts, and pass-through. Do they protect? Yes. But they add a source of harm as well.

Incredibly solid gloves
Before I go any further, I'm going to start with this. Do not buy these gloves for warmth. They don't add much warmth, and if they get wet in the cold, your hands will be cold. If you know you'll be wearing these in a cold climate, I suggest that you invest in merino wool glove liners, so your hands stay warm, even if they get wet. Now, about the function of these gloves...they're awesome! I use these for when I'm chopping wood, and they absorb the shock from each strike fairly well. The padding on the back side is great for this purpose too. For anyone who's ever pinched their fingers while picking up logs from a pile, these will do a great job at prevention. They also have a pretty good grip to them, although admittedly not so much when they are wet, especially when you have an axe with a wood handle. Overall, these make great work gloves for anyone using an axe or hammers, and things of that nature. Just make sure you buy the right size.

Great gear from Mechanix
These are the third pair of Mechanix gloves I have and they do not disappoint. For use in the workshop when using grinders and sanders etc.The leather makes them a little more hard wearing and less prone to melt when in contact with a lot of sparks.I didn't realise until ordered that these would be coming from Oregon in the States, but even so that arrived with speedy, no fuss service.Highly recommended. Thanks.

Pack of 2
Please don't be misled when it says pack of 2. Their pack of 2 is a left and a right. Logic would tell me that a pair of gloves is a single unit. It is not 2 pairs of gloves.

Endgegner Flaschendeckel

Right tool in the wrong hands haha
I work in a garbage truck repair shop as a welder, so you can imagine the things these gloves have to put up with. I know they say not for use with high heat, but I use these for fitting and sometimes get lazy and don't switch gloves to tac things. They haven't shrunk or worn down, the only problem I had Was when I wore them while using a cutting torch, kinda melted the rubber on the left pinky finger haha. But they didn't feel hot, after about a day of solid work they were nice and worn in and really comfortable. If you order the right size and use them for the right job you'll enjoy them.
