Works so far...needs improvement
I have tried many bark deterrent devices in the past couple of years in order to keep my dogs from barking excessively at night. This product seems to be working so far (a little over two weeks). I started with the "bark" correction setting at 2 in order to gradually train the dogs in case a stronger setting was needed later. This product provides correction strength ranges from 1-5, with a sliding sensitivity setting. After a couple of days on 2, I noticed the dogs were being adequately trained so I have not turned the setting up any higher. In order to conserve the batteries (this does not come with a direct power cord supply) I turn the devices off during the day at ~7:30am when I leave for work and I turn them on again around 8-9pm.Other than the actual performance of the device which is still in its infancy at this stage, I did have a few reservations about the durability of the product itself. This device, like most other things in the world, is made in China. China does make some quality products, but this manufacturer did not choose to go the extra $1-$2 per unit to provide a sturdier mounting bracket or stronger screws.I initially tried to use the screws supplied with the unit to mount the base to a cedar-plank fence, but the head stripped out almost immediately (using a hand-held screwdriver). I did manage to get the screw into the fence board with a fair amount of pressure applied while using a power drill. After that episode I chose to use regular 1-5/8" screws to securely mount the base to the fence. Overkill, maybe, but I don't want to find this device laying in the mud at any point. That, however, erased any hope of returning the unit for a refund. The base itself seems rather light-weight in comparison to the unit being held. The actual unit is a few pounds, and I'm almost certain the base will not hold throughout several months of weathering. That, however, will need to be tested over time. Again, I'm being skeptical here.Furthermore, speaking of the mounting bracket again, this device does pivot. However, the range of motion is very limited. I would say the range of motion is around 45 degrees. If you want a sharper angle you will have to figure something else out.The directional cone provided with the unit also takes a little patience to properly assemble. I did not find that the two pieces easily snapped together. You really need to spend a little time aligning all the clips and bending it ever-so-slightly to get the whole thing to "snap" together. A minor irritant.Another reviewer mentioned a problem with rain in relation to this product. I actually built a small cover for my unit out of cedar in order to shelter the device from rain and direct sunlight (again scared about the mounting bracket). The settings are located on top of the unit under a plastic cover that is sealed by a rubber gasket. If you choose not to use the directional cone, rain could still enter the front of the unit where the correctional sounds come out. I would advise putting up a cover over this unit since you may not want to waste money on a dead bark deterrent. In conclusion, I would like to reiterate that this device seems to be working as intented. Is it worth the asking price? Probably. It depends on how desperate you are to help with the barking.I gave three stars because I felt that better screws should have been provided, the base could have been designed stronger, and I truly believe some kind or small cover could have been provided. How much can a little piece of plastic add to the cost? They could even sell replacement covers...it's better than building a cover yourself.Always remember that you can never expect to stop 100% of barking 100% of the time. Always ensure that the barking is not due to trespassers (critters or human), neglect, hunger, boredom, or in an attempt to seek negative attention. If the case is critters, buy some critter repellent at your local home improvement store first and see if this helps.Try to contain the barking by using free methods first: walking with your poocher, spending time with your poocher, and providing adequate shelter. Yelling at a dog when it is barking will achieve the opposite effect you desire. If you are on the other side of the fence having to deal with a noisy dog next door please do not tease, harrass, or yell at the dog. Again, this will build a very negative relationship between you and the dog you have grown to dislike. Instead, talk to the neighbor first. I cannot believe the non-communication from my neighbors, and the passive-aggresive actions they take when simple adult conversation will suffice. If your neighbor still does not do anything about the dog, try to approach the situation in a more non-conventional manner. Try spending time with the dog so that it will get to know you and your voice. Talk with your neighbor before he/she leaves the dogs alone for the weekend and see if you can take them for a walk--you need exercise too. However, I realize some dogs just take after their owners and are not the best representatives of their breed--canine or human. In this case I sympathize with you. Try to locate a professional dog trainer to present to the owner or try to remedy the situation through the courts. In other words, sue for specific performance and make your neighbors enroll the dog in an obediance class. Maybe the dog and owner can both learn something.Remember: love thy neighbor!

It works...sort of
Well first let me say that the product I recieved was I think somewhat defective, in that it would go off at random times without provocation. But that's not the only reason I'm giving it a "meh" rating and am not buying another after returning it.The Lentek Super Bark won't work on all dogs. It just won't, some dogs have different reactions to the sound; some will actually bark MORE when they here a shrieking sound. Some dogs seem indifferent to it. I can say that I have 3 dogs, and then there's my neighbors little yapping Chihuahuas, who I bought the device for deterence. Some of the negatives included that the device goes off on any "loud" noise; we happen to have planes/trains somewhat near by (we don't live in a major hub but still they exist), plus a car might go by with an obnoxious subwoofer, etc, and the device doesn't differentiate between any of it. Drop something loudly, or stub your toe and let out an expletive in it's general vicinity? Well the device will go off on those too, and I don't think that's a lesson the dogs should have to suffer for. I encourage owners to put it on "audible" for a while so they can see just how often it's going off. However, the biggest negative for us was even though there's the "cone" on the front, the sound isn't all the directional. Our biggest dog who happens to have great hearing was most affected by this, and he was scared, uh, poopless for several days with the device. He wouldn't even go outside, and would just cower all the time. That's when we put it on audible and found out it was going on regularly. Ironically it only "somewhat" effected my neighbor's dogs to deter their barking (they'd do it slightly less). The fact that it caused my dog so much distress is easily why we returned it, but that is a factor that won't be applicable to everyone.Between the device working sporadically, being unable to differentiate between types of noises, causing my dog distress, and finally not really being all that effective on the neighbor dogs, I just can't give it a great rating. I can see how it may work for some, so I won't give it a bad rating, and instead I'll leave it with a "meh" rating, didn't work for me, won't work for a lot of people, but it may work for some. What I've finally started doing is just spraying the neighbor dogs with the hose (no, it's not a high-pressure blast, most the time it doesn't even hit them). I've seen some people say that's "cruel" but I really just don't think it is (a pressure washer or -10deg weather sure, but a few drops of water won't hurt them), and to be honest it was effective too. Now I have the neighbor dogs trained after saying "quiet" and spraying in their general vicinity, they've learned that barking at the crazy guy next door has repurcussions, and now I don't even have to spray at them, just tell them to quiet, which is all I really wanted. I'd be wary of recommending the hose thing to others though, some neighbors may over-react, it's not worth a physical confrontation over.

It seems to work in audible mode, with maximum sensitivity, and single bark response
Updated review:3 starsThere are dogs this machine can almost never detect. Small irritating yappy dogs almost never set this thing off even if they're very close to it. It's more likely to go off from the sound of far away airplanes and motorcycles than a small dog barking right in front of it.To reduce the dog's barking a completely different strategy seems to help. Grow a very tall dense hedge so the dog has trouble seeing you and you don't have to see your neighbors. And put up a variety of different toned wind chimes near the offensive dog. The chimes will cover up your sounds and the dog won't know when to bark. A tall privacy hedge would make sense even if there were no barking dogs.-------------------------------Original Review:5 starsAfter leaving this thing sitting outside for a year, I switched it to audible mode (from ultrasonic) because it wasn't having any effect on the dog. I found the batteries were still strong and the sound to be sharp and annoying. The dog suddenly seemed to start noticing. Maybe it was ultrasonic deaf. Audible has the added benefits of letting you know it's still working and will punish your neighbors too. BTW I also have mine setup for maximum sensitivity and to activate after a single bark.If it were $20 I'd aim 3 or 4 at each fence that has a dog. If you have a lot of money you should consider this. Right now I only have 1 aimed at the most savage dog. The build of the product seems reasonable. Its weather sealed so mist and humidity don't rust out the electronics and other parts. I don't know how it would do completely exposed to the elements because I keep mine a little off the ground and covered from rain; the blow horn is not obstructed by the cover.

Works great.
Im sorrounded by 5 dogs that were barking all night. Every time they would start barking i would go out in the yard and activate the Bark Stop. They all were clearly irritated by the device and would stop barking right away. They would start barking again after a bit and i would activate it again every time. 1 year later almost no barking. One dog barked all night without stopping at the beginning and now nothing. It worked great for me. You have to be consistent with doing it every time they bark and they get the message eventually.

amazing product
in august of this year , my partner and i completed the purchase on a rural spanish property .On first viewing of the property , initial reaction was not positive , due to the nearest spanish neighbour having sixteen hounds roaming their driveway , and making a god awful racket . However we soon noticed the noise quitened down once we were out of sight , So we figured if the only time they could be heard , was when someone approached the property , it wasnt so bad .Everything was fine until the end of the summer , when we found out , the spanish neighbours only used their villa during the summer as a holiday home , then they moved back to town , taking four of their hounds with them . The other twelve were left behind as security dogs .If the poor dogs are lucky , the neighbours comes back once a day to feed them ..This is when the situation becomes really bad , the twelve remaining dogs (some locked in cages), are bored , hot , hungry , dehydrated and VERY NOISY.As a result of this , the dream home in the sun becomes a nightmare , the other half who is a ratty bitch at the best of times , suffers sleep deprivation, and i end up living with an absolute psycho with pmt . . It really would be safer being locked up with an axe murderer , , than a mad bitch who hasnt slept for weeks. In desperation , i started to look for a remedy for this situation , and after about four hours of searching and reading reviews , decided to purchase this machine .LET ME TELL YOU , THIS BABY IS AMAZING , IT ACTUALLY WORKS .The reviews and instructions , advise it takes time , results are different with every dog , every situation , multiple dogs , location etc.But within half an hour , twelve howling hounds , were left bewildered and SILENCED ! Its amazing and it works .The morning after first placing the device on our property , the spanish neighbour drove up to his property to feed his dogs , only to be met by silence , He eventually noticed the device , and asked for an explanation as to why we had a problem with his "working dogs" , and then hurled a string of expletives in our direction.( which we couldnt find in the spanish dictionary ) .,
