CAT Construction Toys, Power Action Crew 12" Dump Truck with Action Figure, Lights and Sounds, Ages 3 and up

My grandson is 3 and he PLAYS with his toys. I appreciate how this toy held up to his hard playing and roughness.

What did I receiveI received a large, bulging, sealed, clear plastic non-retail type package that housed the colorful cardboard packaging, that housed the CAT Power Action Crew Dump Truck. I appreciated that since this truck was not in a plastic blister-Pak, at least it was in a heat-sealed plastic bag. Sealing this, in my mind, helps to ensure the integrity of the product is not compromised with dirt, dust, and such. Impressive.Size of the packageThe plastic bag packaging measured 19” x 11” x 7”. The cardboard packaging was similar in size, 14” x 8” x 6¼”.Weight?The package weighed in at about two (2) pounds, three (3) ounces. Which attests to the durability of this.Thoughts about performance and such?On a toy scale, this is massive and rivals the original equipment in looks. The quality of this toys is there. The quality is better than the competitions equivalent dump truck. The plastic seems denser, sturdier, and more durable than the competing plastic dump truck. We also have metal; however, this is going to a younger audience, and I wanted plastic for them. This dump truck’s price is less than the average price, slightly, about 15% to 20% - and this price does have discounts on occasion also.SoundsThis dump truck makes realistic sounds. Batteries are needed, quantity three (3) AA size, however, they were provided, so the sounds this could make were immediate, right out of the packaging. Those sounds included a horn, hydraulic lift, beeps when going backward, motor sounds when going forward. We found that the sounds are best when the driver is in the cab, we press down and then the sounds are activated. There is also a horn on the interior cab’s blue-green button and that other button opens the side toolbox. There are small parts, so caution is advised.GiftableWould make a great gift.Country of origin?Made in VietnamCriticisms?The rear wheel axles were kind of bent, so the rear wheels were wobbly. That was a surprise and I believe a quality control issue. Also, it’s a little confusing on how to generate sounds; further, the rear dump wobbles quite a bit, if it could have a little resistance incorporated into the dump bed, it would make the experience a tad better. The man we received was not as expected. We were looking for the bearded construction worker, we received the clean-shaven version. I have no idea why the cab needs to be opened to press, to sound the horn. We wanted to blast the horn while moving, not stationary with the cab closed. The lights are interior, blue. We were looking for more external lighting.Bottom-lineI would select this again but think the price should be in the teens. It’s nice, but not perfect, so am rating accordingly.I hope my thoughts added information.

This is a well made dump truck. it makes beeping noises when you back up the truck and your standard truck sounds when you drive it around. It comes with a driver and tiny little tools he can hold to fix the dump truck, we put away the little tools. After many months of rough play it has yet to break down or loose any parts. Highly recommend it to any construction loving little one !

My boys love construction vehicles and have several of all sizes. This CAT toy is really cool because who doesn’t recognize CAT construction vehicles? It’s well built as you’d expect from CAT.The dump truck comes with a little construction worker figure, power tool, and wrench for the action figure. There’s a power switch at the bottom. Once switched on, you have to press the action figure sitting in the truck (or the blue button under where the figure sits) to “start” the dump truck and the sounds. Pressing this again will “turn off” the engine of the truck and stop the sounds. When on it’ll make sounds like it’s driving when you push it forward, beeping sound like it’s reversing if you roll the truck backwards, and make some hydraulic sounds when you lift the bed of the truck. There is no powered movement on this toy. It’s just the sound effects as you push it around. There’s a blue button on the side that opens the cab so you can put in/take out the figure. There are two small blue buttons in there and one opens a door on the side of the truck where you can access the wrench/power tool for the figure.Excellent toy! My only wish is that there were some type of volume control for this. Big machinery = loud sounds! But my boys love it and I think it’s cool too.

The rear wheel axles were somewhat bent, causing wobbly wheels, which seemed like a quality control issue.Despite these minor issues, this toy dump truck would make an excellent gift. It's produced in Vietnam, and although it's not perfect, I would still choose it again if the price were slightly lower. I hope this review helps you make an informed decision.

I like this truck because it has the "beep, beep, beep" when going backwards and the little construction worker sitting in the cab is cute. My granddaughter likes to pile rocks in the bed. It's a simple truck that seems durable and is fun to pay with.

This is a fun truck toy. The truck makes fun sounds both from button pushes and from going forward (driving noises) vs. backward (beeping noises). The little guy has moveable parts and can drive the truck, hold tools to fix the truck, and just be played with separately. The dump truck is a good size to be able to load and dump little toys, dirt, rocks, etc. Just beware if you have very little ones around (likely siblings of those using this truck) that the little tools are pretty small so they might need to be kept away.
