This book had my attention from the first page to the last. There were several surprises and I love that Irene has not only an eager Apprentice but also Vale and Kai are more than ready to help her navigate some tricky obstacles.I'm so excited to see what happens next!Trigger warnings: death, murder, violence, kidnapping

I loved all the books from the series and this one was good too.

Although not as full of action as some of the previous books in the series it was still a good easy read. More devious politics involved with the heroine Irene shining again in sorting out Fae, dragons and Librarians. I found myself totally immersed once more. Marvellous fantasy with humour included.

The first half of the book is slow, but not in a boring sort of way: it just sets the scene *very* thoroughly. And the second half... You wanted action and plot twists? There you have them. *All* of them. Fab!

I loved the fast pace of this story; likewise the creativity, wit and originality of its plot and characters. A thoroughly good read.
