Like most adults that place this order, I remember eating this taffy when I was a kid. I remember my dad coming home one day, and giving a FULL BAR each to me and my two brothers. That is the only thing I remember from being 3 years old. I'm 57 now, and delighted that this is again in production.Like another reviewer, my box of taffy was victim to being stored TOO HOT. I could feel that the taffy was thick on one end in the package, and very thin on the other end. So the box had to be stored on its side in a HOT place. Fortunately, it didn't seem to affect the taste or consistency. Actually the consistency is EXACTLY how I remember it. . . not too soft (like the average salt water taffy), nor too hard (like a Sugar Daddy).This chocolate taffy is far better than Doscher's "French Chew", as that taffy is heavily coated with corn starch to keep it from sticking to the packaging. . . . sure glad Bonomo does not do that. They use aluminum foil lined wrappers, just like the original, although I think the originals were paper, and this wrapper seems to be Mylar or similar.The chocolate taffy is not "quite" as dark, or "chocolatey" as the original, or at least as I remember. But you must factor in that we were poor back then, so candy was rare, and the memory could be slightly embellished.With a box at only $19.57 including free Prime shipping, it is cheaper than other suppliers. And since the taste and texture are not affected by the melting, I will definitely order again.

I found this product very disappointing because it seems like it had been melted and reset and thus stuck to the paper.Very sad as I was looking forward to some great Taffy.

This has been my favorite candy for over 60 years, against the protestantions of my dentist. Unfortunately, when I opened the box I realized the candy had been subjected to too mych heat somewhere along the way to my house. It really sticks to the packaging and is hard to peel off. It tastes the same but did lose some mouth-feel.

I'm sad to agree with 'Turquoise' and some of the other reviewers here. Despite some negative reviews about this product, I hoped they might be wrong, so strong was my craving for the chocolate Turkish Taffy of my memories. There really was something special about it, at least to me. Unfortunately, this is NOTHING like that. The package looks the same, but when my box arrived, the taffy had sort of shifted all to one end of the individual packages, so it was more like there was a 2/3-sized bar in each pack. I guess that can happen if the box is stored on its side in a warm truck, so I'm okay with that. Cracked open my first one tonight. It does shatter pretty much like the original, but that's just about where it ends. The candy is a lighter color; more like latte coffee than the darker chocolate of yesteryear. As far as texture, it might be close to the original...you still have to let it get a little warm in your mouth before you want to bite down on it, not bad. But the proof is in the taste, and these new ones DON'T have it. My friend and I agreed that there is very little chocolate flavor, mostly kind of artificial sweet taste and an almost rancid oil aftertaste which was not what I'd expected. I'm bringing the 22 remaining bars to work. A real disappointment. I guess I don't understand why a company would bring back a candy bar and say it was the same as before, when they've clearly changed the recipe. Why bother?
