Good chair, but apparently poor QC.
Had this thing for about a week and I'm liking it with one main exceptions and few smalls ones.Pros:-Sturdy. This chair is actually oversized for me, I'm in the high 200s and I have plenty of space in this thing.-The back-reclining is a nice feature as well.- Pretty comfortable overall.-Comes with a lumbar and headrest pillow that are removable.Cons:-This is where I get a bit ticked off when something like this pops up in 450 dollar chair... the darn back is tilted ever so slightly to one side because screw holes do not line up properly. See the pictures. There are two sturdy bolts per side, and the male part, on the seat itself, slots into a female side on the back. The male part has two bolt holes, the bottom one elongated to give a bit of wiggle room....well that's great except the top hole is non-elongated making that feature useless. Due to this you have no adjustment for when the QC for parts is apparently lacking. It's not a BIG issue, per say, but being semi OCD (And the fact I paid 450 bucks for the darn thing) it irks me when I see it. You don't notice it when sitting in it, but when you look at it it is rather obvious. At first glance it looks like it's slumping to once side ever so slightly. I could expand the hole easily enough on the one side but it's not worth the effort.-The wheels seem a bit cheap too. More sturdy than your regular crap office chair caster for sure, however. Dual narrow wheels - the kind of seem like a hybrid between regular chair casters and rollerblade style wheels so we'll see. If they fail they're replaceable and I'll just put the rollerblade style in. They seems sturdy enough, but if you're really tipping the scale they'll probably not last too long.-Not a fan of the Pleather - would rather have a more breathable mesh fabric like my old chair, I question the longevity of the pleather.Edit: Since some people are not to bright, see rocket scientist Daniel's comment below: Yes - I knew it was pleather when I bought it. Suffice to say finding a chair that the features I wanted AND a fabric covering wasn't happening, so I took a gamble on the pleather. I fully expect it will start to crack and degrade in 5 years +-, but that remains to be seen. I could be wrong, who knows! My previous chair, which lasted almost 15 years, was made by a company no longer in business otherwise I would have gone back to them for another one.Edit 5/2/2019:I've upped this to a 4 star after a recent issue:To step back to comment about the pleather - Still holding strong, so so far I've been prooved wrong about it not holding it - it's holding up surprisingly well.I've had an odd failure. The screw mounts around the front of the mechanism broke. After getting in touch with support they said it was an older version from a different manufacturer they had issues with and have a new version from a new source. They sent that out after some discussion and pictures without issue. However, as anyone who has tried to remove a chair piston from a mechanism that's been stuck in there a while they are almost impossible to remove. Try as I might with a deadblow hammer the thing didn't budge at all... and then the retaining clip holding the piston and the whole then came apart. "Well crap.." I thought as I figured it was going to be a fight to get that replaced free, but talking to Johnny in support (Again - same fellow I dealt with the first time that made the entire process pretty painless) he shipped out a new piston without a fuss with 2 day shipping. Color me impressed. It's refreshing to find a company that stands behind their products like this. While I've had some minor issues with the chair, and out side of this mechanism breaking like it did, it has been a very sturdy and reliable chair which is what I was after. The only quibble I have is the support process is iffy. I initially sent in an RMA request via their form, but got no response after almost a week. So I tried to call.. no luck there either as it just ends up going to voice mail. So in both cases I used the online chat. Funnily enough however they are routing it went to someone using Google Fi, which I also have, and I got the Google call screening service answering, which was fun to mess with as I know they're reading what I'm saying almost realtime... Also I got a response from the online form almost two weeks later - don't know if that's a common thing or if they were just stuck or having issues in their CSR system, but when I engaged support in chat after a week even they could not find the request.

It's a chair just not a comfy chair for chonky peeps
So to the average size person this chair will work fine. This is to my fellow chonky Bois and girls if you have a wide load look elsewhere, the chair is sturdy been fine for over a year. But the issue with the seat it's a wide seat but the part that actually holds us up is kinda like a bowl or a bucket so these hard bits of plastic or metal not sure which will stick into the back of your legs making the seating more narrow that it appears. Again this only affects the chonky but then this chair is advertised for the chonky.

cylinder lasted 2 months, then, 6months
headline says it all. Gas cylinder lasted a tad less than 2 months.Calling support to speak to someone is pretty much impossible if you don't know a name and extension number.I am now at a second message left on their site.Hopefully, someone will eventually address my problem.Other than that, the chair is very sturdy, but most chairs where you set the height, the gas cylinder does give a little bit of as cushion. Not the case here. when you choose the height, it's like if clamps on solid, with no play up or down.EDIT: finally got lucky and someone opened a "chat" on their site. From that point, replacement parts were sent expediously, and I received them within a week or so.*** Pour les francophones: support à date inexistant. Follow-up/Suivireplacement cylinder lasted 6 months. Since the chair is already higher than normal, I just gave up, not wanting to go through the same border problems encountered with the first chair (US company) The seat is extremely hard. nothing a good cushion did not fix. Just contacted Vertagear by email.Tous les leviers sont brisés, en plus du dossier qui a fracturé. En attende de suivi de Vertagear.

Expensive but a good investment esp if you're a large guy.
First off, I want to say I'm a fairly, large guy at nearly 6' and weighing 280lbs. After watching and reading mixed reviews from other reviewers such as those from youtube as well as from amazon (of course), I decided to take the plunge and shell out the $400+ chair. The package arrived fairly, well protected and felt heavy-duty so they didn't skimp on the material it seems. I live in an apartment so the box stood near my door within the hallway (which requires a key to get into). One of the sides of the box, I've noticed had a small hole in it (probably during transit) but not enough to penetrate into the interior. This thing was BIG and slighty heavy (69lbs is what they quote) and if you require it to be picked up, they advise to use two people. I had no trouble pushing it into my pad though. After unboxing it, everything looked well protected. There was a bag that contained the wheels that came open so 3 of the 5 wheels were loose but did not knick anything or get damaged. There were some bolts as well that came loose too but, again, did not damage any of the chair parts as each piece was wrapped in plastic.Assembly took absolutely no time at all. About 20 minutes was all the time it took to put together. None of your own tools are required as they provide a hex driver. There is one part that was sort of tricky and that was lining up the back of the chair to the seat and having to line up the pre-allocated holes but I was able to resolve this in no time at all. For the wheels, don't worry if they don't snap all the way into the base as this is pretty standard (it feels like there needs to be a 1 cm gap between the wheel and where it connects).Sitting in this chair, I do get the feeling of sturdiness that most rave about. It does feel stable and the chair's seat is wide enough to accommodate a 50 in waist with room to spare so this is really nice. This doesn't seem to suffer the same fate as most other gaming chairs where your thighs are pressed up against the armrests. However, when you sit in it, don't expect it to feel like your couch. Although it is plush, it is also firm. As most reviewers have outlined, the material is made of fake leather but is perforated to mitigate trapped heat. I sit in this for sometimes 6+ hours at a time for both work and games and it hasn't gotten uncomfortable or hot. Having said this, I'm writing while it's still winter here so it will be interesting to see how the summer months fare.To the popular complaint regarding wheels getting snapped off, I've now sat in this chair for a solid week and have not felt like the chairs are giving away so it definitely feels like they've addressed the issue but time will tell. The chair will also recline all the way back as advertised so you do lay down while completely horizontal. Be warned though, it will scare you at first because it will feel like you're going to buckle the chair or lose balance. I can attest that I've reclined all the way back several times with no adverse affects on the chair.Speaking of customized seating, this chair does offer an array of nice features such as extending or retracting the armrests and re-positioning them to your tastes. You can also adjust the tension when you lean back. One thing I wish they'd had improved upon is lowering the height of the chair. While it does go fairly low, it doesn't go down far enough for my tastes. I have an executive desk at home that my chair is used for.Among the many features of this chair, the neck and lumbar pillows are absolutely stellar. They are super comfortable and when you lay down with these in place, they feel amazing against your neck and back. I might order a neck pillow for my car since they are great.I hope this helps anyone that had any doubts about buying this. If you have a spare $400+, it's a good investment for what feels like a quality product. It's a good, gaming chair that does exactly what it advertises and gives the appropriate support large people like me needs.
