Amazing sets for Lego and Mario fans!
Fantastic quality as expected with the lego brand taken to the next level with fab interactive features to get the best from this extension set , you will need to also have one of the starter sets which have mario or Luigi in. Link it to the super Mario app & you have very easy build instructions as well as challenges to complete and 2 player game options. The new interactive app is needed as these hold your instructions but fab. You can zoom and twist those instructions to see in more details, also saving progress if you choose to leave and come back later. Loads of fun and more to explore on the app with features and different builds. Once built we had built it we added it to our starter pack and started to create many bespoke courses and began to see who could collect the most coins. The interactive Luigi is great fun even I enjoyed collecting coins! The kids enjoyed the build and the initial play but it doesn’t hold their imagination as much as other Lego sets do.Perfect set for those ages 8 and up who are enjoying tech games but still want to play with toys creatively. This is the first time we have used and built an expansion set of lego, and I have to say myself and little ones were over the moon with it. I wish I was a child again and someone to gift me one of those, I would be thrilled! This would make a brilliant gift for any Super Mario fan as would make endless hours of fun. Overall it's a big thumbs up!

Great quality as expected from LEGO
This LEGO 71401 Super Mario Luigi’s Mansion Haunt-and-Seek Expansion, is an amazing set, really solid quality as expected from Lego.Comprising 877 pieces, this set includes everything needed to build a Super Mario Luigi’s Mansion with 4 modular sections connected by a rotating hallway, and 3 hidden gems. Included in the set are 4 figures: a Toad (with a scared face), and enemies Garbage Can Ghost, a Grabbing Ghost and King Boo. My 9-year old son, who was the recipient of this, is very happy with this set.All pieces fit together well, slotting into place and staying there securely. It's also easy enough to take apart when you're finished. The pictorial instruction booklet shows you where all the pieces go, with each piece being recognisable and is clear to follow. It’s aimed at children aged 8 upwards, the younger ones would need an adult to help them make it.Great fun to make and spend time with your little ones, showing them what to do and where each piece goes. All in all, this is a great toy for kids that stimulates their imagination. Bright, colourful and engaging. A great set at a reasonable price (£59.82 at the time of writing this review).

Fun expansion set; reduced packaging version expensive compared to regular
Pieces: 877Price per piece: 8p at current price £69.99 RRPThis is one of the larger and more expensive expansion sets to go with Super Mario Lego. The expansion sets need you to have one of two starter sets, one featuring Mario and one featuring Luigi. The animated characters, which have code readers built in to their bases, aren’t available as stand-alone items and you need these to be able to use the set as a game. It doesn’t matter which of the main characters you have, either will work with all of the expansion pack sets.As usual for Super Mario Lego this expansion doesn’t come with printed instructions. There are booklets in the box, but these are advertising fliers only. The instructions are all app-based. I don’t like this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the app is a bit of a beast – at time of writing this takes up more than 2GB of storage on my phone (if you’re short on storage space or have a few things running simultaneously, this is prone to crashing) – and secondly, once you’ve been through the partially animated build process the bag opening sections seem to disappear from the instructions. We like to be able to take our Lego down and bag it back up properly between uses/if not displaying and this makes it harder. This is a fun build, with lots of little sub-sections to it that allow it to be configured in different ways. It’s good that although this basically makes up to create a room, you can set it up in different ways to give a different, personalised feel. The greys, browns, and yellow-golds of the colour scheme give this a good, aged, haunted house vibe. There’s a nice range of activity pieces – including a slider, a pivot, and a roundabout.I also like that this set gives us a different version of Toad (red dot on his hat and a completely different facial expression) from the character included in the 71390 Reznor Knockdown set.I received the so-called reduced packaging version of this Lego Super Mario expansion set. It came in a sturdy, almost entirely plain brown box that still seemed pretty large, but this box doesn’t have the heavy ink printing of a standard Lego retail box – so I was reasonably happy that this was going to have a lesser environmental impact. Until I opened the box and found what seems to be the standard retail box inside. This might still have been an improvement over regular packaging if it has shipped in just the slim-fitting brown box – but it wasn’t.At time of writing the ‘reduced packaging’ version is a full £14 more expensive than the ‘normal packaging’ set. Even if my experience with this hadn’t been that the packaging didn’t seem to be at all reduced (box dimensions when out of the shipper box are identical to those of the ‘normal packaging’ version) this is too big a difference. Trying to do the right thing environmentally by opting for something that’s purporting to be a reduced packaging version should not carry a 25% surcharge.
