These are much heavier duty that what is avaiable in the big box stores. Second time purchasing it as my older cables eventually wore out.

Didn't like the fact that it is advertised at 6 watts per foot when it is actually 13 watts per foot

I installed 2 sections of heat tape at 2 different locations on my home (new construction & existing construction). The new construction area has 4 roof surfaces converging into a 10' wide section, where some surfaces are exposed to sun and some are not. Consequently I had 4-5" of ice buildup last season. It is a complicated area, and while talking to Matt @ Radiant Solutions, I took pics, sent them and Matt gave recommendations for the area. Not only did I need it on the roof, but an extra 20' in a downspout and another 30' of draintile that is daylighted into my yard. The length Matt recommended was perfect. With respect to the product, it is much higher quality than one would buy in a big box store, and the Grip Clips they provide work well and are very easy to use.
