Review from 2005 VW Golf MK5
I never normally write reviews about products but I wanted to write one for this head unit, because I felt stuck at times and I might have some solutions or advices that can help. The head unit for this price is absolutely amazing - it definitely does its job and there are no complaints whatsoever. I have never tried to do anything by myself on my car, so I thought this will be the first thing I want to upgrade. So the instructions that come with this head unit were not very clear to me unfortunately as a beginner, but instead I researched in the internet and watched a couple of youtube videos and tutorials on how to connect everything and how to change it properly. Because of me watching tutorials I managed to install the unit for under 30 minutes.I haven't installed the camera as I'm a bit unsure on how to do it (instructions also unclear again) so I might actually take it to a professional to have a look and install it for me, unfortunately I can't write any feedback on the camera.Battery Drain - My main concern about this whole deal was if there's going to be any battery drain of sorts. Since I am a beginner I've got no clue whatsoever about wires or anything electrical in a vehicle, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I've heard loads of people have trouble with units like these that drain battery even though you have taken the key out of the ignition. I know about the red & orange cables (sometimes it could be red & yellow) that I should not connect them when installing head units, because apparently one of those cables constantly consumes voltage even though u have turned your car off. I first installed it without connecting the red & orange wires and only the canbus. The unit didn't turn on at all. So I just connected the red & orange wires + connecting the canbus all together (which I have heard that it's not good to do that, but I did it anyways) and it turned on. Now I wanted to make sure that once I take my key out of my ignition that the unit completely shuts off. I found out about one setting in the factory settings that might help you. I went in Factory Settings and put the password (8888). Then I clicked on "Engineering Test Debugging". Then you have to put a password in which is 26959910. Then I made sure to press "Direct Shutdown Mode" which is basically a setting that will make the unit shutdown completely as soon as you take your key out of the ignition (this works for any car by the way). Then just go back to home and take your key out and wait around 20-30 seconds and turn your car back on and it should work. Now every time you start your car you should be seeing the Android logo and Android starting up. Just keep in mind that it takes like 1-2 minutes to connect to everything (it's not fast unfortunately but it is what it is). And yes I have tested it, my car has been staying for 24 hours straight outside and can still start. The Canbus setting that you should put in Protocol settings is XinPu and then the top setting (I spoke to the seller and he recommended me to put that setting in for my car which is the golf mk5 2005) and press confirm (should use internet for it to download first). The settings and overall apps and system is pretty good I like it personally - you can change themes if you like as well.I also made sure the head unit's hotspot always turns on and bluetooth too. I've paired my device with the unit and normally the hotspot takes a minute to start when I start my car. I have an apple device so normally when I start my car it takes maximum 2 minutes to connect to everything including carplay wirelessly (of course you can connect with your USB cable too it's totally just preference). Also if you have any issues with the wifi or hotspot on the head unit, make sure you find the setting for the Band (not sure exactly where it was - somewhere in the network settings) I had to put the Band to 2.4 Ghz instead of 5 Ghz, because for some reason nothing wanted to connect. I couldn't connect to carplay at first and I was wondering why but then I realised that I have restricted carplay on my phone so make sure every option for Carplay in your IPhone is on Allow and not restricted. The sound quality is insanely different compared to what I used to use before for music (which was a transmitter). The sound and music sounds so much clearer now and there's definitely a huge difference. The built in microphone is also okay. Not great but also not extremely bad. It is kind of muffled when you speak to someone, but I heard from friends that they can hear me just fine and understand what I'm saying and that's what's important to me. When they are speaking to me I can also hear them clearly and the sound quality is still very good.I've heard some people have had connection problems with the unit but honestly I don't have that problem and I'm always connecting to the head unit wirelessly with bluetooth. If you do I recommend just connect with the unit through the USB cables that they have provided in the packaging.Overall I am very impressed and it definitely changed my car's whole vibe inside and my friends also said they really love it. Sometimes it could be a bit slow but I'm a patient guy so it doesn't bother me (also for this price I think it's 100% worth buying this product if you're a bit of a cheapskate like me) I've already scratched the screen a bit which is a bit foolish of me lol.I hope this review helps-Deniz

Rubbish!
If you’re ordering it to upgrade your cars appearance then ideal! Functionality of it is awful. Bluetooth is not strong, takes ages to connect. When it does finally connect, music sounds like it’s playing on a scratched cd and keeps jumping. Calls are terrible and the mic doesn’t work when coming through the speaker so no other choice but to have your calls on loudspeaker so people can hear you. Very buggy. Waste of money.

Good product, good sound, first installation drained battery
I purchased and installed this item 3 weeks ago and it worked well, fairly easy to install. I left the car for a week and the battery was flat. I had followed the instructions provided but after contacting company they gave me different installation instructions which seems to have fixed problem.Basically, if you have a Golf 6 with 40 pin connector then always connect the canbus regardless of whether you have steering wheel controls or not.Communication from the company was good and they responded within 2-12 hours.Overall I’m very pleased with the purchase.

Outstanding value and does just what I need it to.
Brilliant value for money. Very straight forward to install. Seamlessly worked with our Polo 2011 and replaced the boring old original head unit. My daughter is thrilled she can now play her music and use apple carplay. Highly recommended. If I had one gripe, it would be the lack of quality with bluetooth calling. There is a little interference on the calls and it really does need an external mic, as callers can't really here you. Overall though, very happy!

Lasted 1 day!
Lasted 1 day! Installed the product. Worked on first installation. Spent all day trying to connect to Z Link but couldn’t get car Play working. Next day unit didn’t come on at all. Am passed the 30 day return because car was getting repaired and no way of contacting seller.

A Seamless Fit for my VW Polo 2011! - Absolute bargain
With no prior experience in car electronics, I was pleasantly surprised at how effortlessly this product integrated into my VW Polo 2011. It's a perfect match, fitting snugly without a hitch. I highly recommend investing in plastic car fascia removers; they're very affordable on Amazon and act like shoehorns, making the installation a breeze. Additionally, a T20 screwdriver is essential for a smooth setup. The power of deduction simplified the process, and within 10 minutes, I had it flawlessly installed. The instructions provided are very detailed and show all the various cable combinations needed to fit into your vehicle. Highly recommended for both beginners and experienced DIYers saving yourself £££ on professional installers.

Battery Drain
Have to disconnect the wires every time over night as it drains battery in my golf mk5, I tried disconnecting the red and orange cable but then the screen doesn’t turn on when the cables are not connected. The screen used to turn off when I took the key out of the ignition but once I connect the red and orange cables one day, ever since that day the screen hasn’t turned off when I take the key out of the ignition even with the red and orange cables disconnected.
