Bissell Pet & Hand Vac Multi-Level Filter, 97D5

I bought the vacuum in the spring for short money (under $40) and I've loved how the HEPA filter grabs fine particles that my other vacuum misses and throws back into the air. With these filters it's easy to reuse the screen portion since you can rinse and dry it. The filter media itself is more difficult because depending on your vacuuming needs it can get overwhelmed fairly rapidly. I run into trouble going for more powdery clean ups like my clumsy self spilling cosmetic powder or trying to freshen an area with baking soda. When you hear the struggle and chug of the motor cycling the finer particles around you'll experience a loss of suction. I reuse these filters by either stepping outside and firmly beating it against a step or hard surface. I also employ several Q-tips to run along the ribs of it and loosen dirt. I've even vacuumed it with my big vacuum, chuckling about the irony. Remember not to empty your canister in your house if you can at all avoid it. You're just sprinkling the contamination elsewhere! I learned the hard way when I ('carefully') emptied it several times in my bedroom trash. I came home to awful makeup brushes when the dust settled.. literally. This seller has an economical price and two pack so I'm always sure to order ahead and have a back up filter ready. The attachments and small size of the Bissell allow you to clean cars and difficult areas my big vacuum is too awkward to manage.

Let me first say that I love the little handheld vacuum for which these filters are made. I think it would suck the hair off a monkey, so pet hair is not a challenge. The filters, while working well, are poorly designed. Here's what I mean: as you can see in the photo, the filter comes in two parts, a mesh screen and a thick accordion filter. The screen can be washed in warm soapy water and likely would last for a good time. The white filter, however, cannot be washed. All you can do is wipe it clean and that leaves something to be desired. I suppose that, if I was only using this thing on pet hair and spots, it might be fine. But the vacuum is such a little powerhouse that I've also used it to vacuum drapes, upholstery and crevices. Lots of fine dust, which seems to breed in my house. As a result, I've had to replace the filter assembly more frequently than I had originally thought. Bissell should consider selling the two pieces individually.

This is an unbelievable hand vac...but for stairs only. My carpeted stairs look amazing. Suction power is great especially for our dog’s hair. It sucked up enough in hair to make a smaller version of him. Otherwise, for the hair in our SUV not so much. Had to go back to packing tape.

I initially purchased another 97D5 filter compatible with Bissell Pet Hair Hand vac and it wouldn't fit my Bissell Pet Hair Hand Vac. So, I thought it was best to order from Bissell and I'm happy I did. The original Bissell filter fit perfectly and the suction was so strong it was if my hand vac was brand new despite my purchase was 7 years ago. My advice is if you want the filter without having to return the item, buy the filter from Bissell.

This filter catches all the dog hair and debris. Freshen your hand vac with a new filter. I use this for a vacuum on a boat. After awhile, it's time to change the filter. I always keep an spare on hand.

Replaces the old filter. I really needed one. I'm ordering another one for the future.

These are perfect size and I like how I can clean it with soap and water
