Very detailed, good for the visual learner.
So far, looking at the book, there's a lot of pictures and explanations. I saw a page listing other useful tools such as a teacher, different tire is needle heads. I'm excited. Feels like middle school again. I have been wanting to start sewing again to repair our clothing, but to also experiment and try to make things for my daughter. ❤️

Excellent book to learn to Sew
I bought this book for my beginning sewing class. It is now an awesome book for reference. It clearly explains different sewing techniques and has great illustrations too.

A Must Have Book for All Sewists
I heard about this “must have” book on a sewing channel I follow. I have so many books from Patty Palmer, Sandra Betzina, Vogue, Claire Shaeffer etc. Well I must say, this book blows me away! The instructions and diagrams in this “guide to sewing” are excellent! If you want to add a book to your collection of sewing books, whether you are a new sewist or experienced, I highly recommend this book! It’s beautifully done! And if you forget how to make a collar with a stand or anything at all, you will find it in this book.

Informative
About a year ago I took a pair of jeans to a cleaners to hem them up, I did not like what I was quoted so in the best girl math possible I signed up for a sewing course at my community center. I figured I would learn how to hem up some pants and never have to pay again. At the first lesson, the instructor encouraged us the buy this book, which I did, and I found it helpful, mostly for some general knowledge about sewing basics, techniques, fabrics, etc... I t did not really teach me how to hem up pants and neither did the instructor. She never seemed to have liked me much, in general she just scared me, I have a half finished skirt laying around the house somewhere but I never had the courage to ask her about the pants... Later on I learned how to hem up jeans on Youtube; however, I did learn how to use a sewing machine, so there you go, it was a win win.

Wonderful book.
Wonderful book. I lost my old book which was with me for decades, previous edition. So I am really happy to buy this latest edition as part of my curriculum to teach basic sewing classes.

Comparable to Original Edition
I owned the first edition for many years until I gave it to my son at his request. I miss my original edition and was disappointed that it is no longer available but I am glad I purchased this newer version. It is nicely laid out, well-organized, well-written, full of good information, clear instructions, and accompanying illustrations that are very helpful. If you don’t have the good fortune to own the original version, I do recommend this newer edition as a comparable and suitable alternative.

Great compilation of sewing techniques
This has been written in the style of a magazine so it doesn't really follow the rules of a book - the first to last project isn't easiest to hardest. However, the depth of knowledge gained from this compilation is unparalleled.
